AUSTRALIAN BUSHMAN AND OTHER TALES
My character "Moonman", is based on an old Australian bushman, who was a family friend. He used to entertain our children, when they were small with tall stories.
Somewhat of a character, he was loved by the children. He would sit for hours, telling stories and they would listen completely enthralled.
In some other tales a general nature, he is not featured.
The bushman, let us call him Moonman. The children could not pronounce his correct name and became corrupted to Moonman and later to Man in the Moon.
That is another story. He used to insist that the tales were true, finishing them with his comment "It's Gospel", meaning it is the truth.
Alas, Prof cannot vouch for the truth of the tales, nor the sizes of the lizards.
You will have to
make your own judgement there. J
Regardless, I hope they make entertaining fireside or campfire stories.
You are at liberty to make your own judgement about the
"True".
The first two tales are of the Australian goanna; a species of monitor lizard of the genus,
(Varanus). It is our largest lizard and
nowadays can reach sizes of 2 - 3 metres long. The name is believed to be a corruption of iguana.
