Part Seven
Hey kid, Anthony kissed the side of Kaylees head before sitting down on her bed.  Wha cha doin?

Writing in my journal, Kaylee responded, not looking away from the computer screen.

Are you okay?

Im fine.

Kaylee, Ive known you since you were three.  I know when youre lying.

She sighed and stopped typing.  Have I told you how much all of this sucks?

No.  But you dont need to.  I can tell by the way youre acting.

Where are Thrash and Hammer?

Back at the hotel.  I wanted to come talk to you with out them.

Kaylee stood and walked over to the bed.  She sat down next to him and rested her head on his shoulder.  I just wanna go home.  Nothing ever goes wrong in my life at Daddys.  Just at moms.

You wouldnt have met Benji.

And thats bad because?

Anthony chuckled.  I get your point.  But I dont think either one of them will be a problem anymore.

Kaylee sat up strait and glared at him.  Whatd you do?

Damn it, he groaned.

Anthony, I swear if you dont tell me.

We went by Barefoot Studios yesterday tointroduce ourselves.

Shit, Anthony!  Do you know how much that didnt help the situation?

But you were pissed at both of them last night!

Oh my God, since when do the three of you take me seriously?

When youre heart broken.  Thats the worst weve ever seen you, Lee.  We couldnt just let it slid under the radar.

Kaylee pulled on a pair of Vans and grabbed her keys.

Where are you going?

Barefoot.  To try and fit what the three of you fucked up.

~*~*~*~*~

Kaylee stopped the truck quickly in front of Barefoot Studios and got out.  She jogged to the side door and flung it open.

She walked past a few doors before opening one on the left.

The members of Good Charlotte were all gathered around a table, starring at a piece of paper.

Eric Valentine looked up at Kaylee and smiled.  Good afternoon, Kaylee.  What can I do for you?

Actually I need to talk to Benji and Joel. The voice didnt sound like her own.

What you couldnt just send your goons with the message? Benji sneered.

Kaylee sighed.  I didnt send them.  I didnt even know they were coming here.  I just found out they did ten minutes ago, and came over here to apologize.

Thats nice, but were busy.  Benji turned his attention back to the sheet of paper.

She stood there a second before turned and leaving, trying hard not to cry.

Kaylee barely made it to her truck before she broke down in tears.

Without thinking she pulled out her phone and started dialing.  Hi Daddy, its Kaylee.  Um, youre probably at workso Ill just get to the point of this message.  I want to come home.  Now.  Kaylee hung up and dropped the phone on the seat beside her.

~*~*~*~*~

The heavy bass of Kaylees stereo blared 50 Cent.  The only time she ever really listened to rap was when she was mad, it always seemed to fit no matter what was wrong.

Kaylee was throwing clothes into her bag, not even bothering to fold them.

Jamie stood in the doorway watching her, clueless about what to do.  Can I borrow your truck for about an hour?

Kaylee nodded and tossed her the keys.

Jamie walked down the hall to Jessicas room and stuck her head inside.  Come on.

Where are we going? Jessica asked, looking up from the magazine she was reading.

Barefoot.

Jessica didnt need an explanation, and slipped on a pair of sandals.  Lets go.

A few minutes later Jamie stopped the truck in front of Barefoot Studios.

I didnt think youd remember how to get here.  Jessica slid out of the truck and on to the hot pavement.

I didnt either.  Jamie opened the door and let her sister inside the building.  But we made it here.

Jessica shrugged as she opened the door to the studio GC was using.

Once again the members of GC and Eric were crowded around the table, looking at and discussing something.

The younger Russell twins!  Sorry, but I cant remember your names.  Eric smiled at the two.

Its really not that important.  Im sorry if I sound like a bitch but we need to talk to Benji and Joel.  Now.  Jamie stood with her hands on her hips.

Were a little busy, Jamie.  Joel forced a smile.

Do I look like a care?

Joel was taken aback.  Excuse me?

I dont know how much clearer I can get.  You and your brother, parking lot, now.  Easy enough for you?
Jamie, were busy, Benji said a little forcibly.

Dont make me grab you by the balls and drag your punk rocker ass out there.  Im pissed and I dont take shit from anybody.  Now.

Just go out there to see what they have to say, Billy said before Benji could respond.

Benji growled and stood.  He, followed by Joel, walked behind Jamie and Jessica out to the parking lot.

Jamie leaned against the truck, her arms crossed over her chest, looking expectantly at Benji and Joel.

Youre the one who insisted we come out here.  Benji was in a bad mood.

What the fuck did you say to her?  Jamie demanded.

What the hell are you talking about?

As we speak Kaylee is at home, packing for Texas.  What the hell did the two of you say to her to make her want to go home?

We didnt say anything to her, Joel answered.

Maybe thats the problem! Jessica exploded.  We know she came here and we know Anthony, Thrash, and Hammer came here last night.  We know what happened with them, but Kaylees not talking.  So one of you better start.

Were recording an album, girls, or hadnt you noticed?  We dont have time for this, or Kaylee.  Benji wasnt even trying to sound pleasant anymore.

Jessica stepped forward and kicked him in the balls as hard as she could.

Jamie bit back a smile as she took her sisters arm and pulled her back.

What the fuck was that for? Joel yelled.

Bull shit, Jessica spat.  You both were all about Kaylee, but now you dont have time to hear her side of it?  Bull fucking shit.

Come on, Jess.  Lets go help Kaylee pack.  Jamie opened the drivers side door and got in the truck.
