Part Four
Kayla crawled into bed next to the half awake Kaylee.  The girls told me about yesterday.

Why am I not surprised? Kaylee mumbled.

I agree with them, you should probably tell Joel about you and Benji.

There is no me and Benji.

But there was.

No.  It was me and the guy on the internet.  Two totally different people.

Its the same guy, Lee.  The same guy youve been crazy about for years.

Kaylee reached over to her bedside table and picked up her ringing cell phone.  Hello?

Hey its Joel.

Hey.  Whats up?

Do you wanna come to the studio today?

I guess.  But itll be just me.  Jess and James left a little while ago, and Kayla has plans.

Id rather it just be you anyway.

Kaylee smiled.  Ill be there in about an hour.

Alright.  Bye.

Bye.  Kaylee hung up.  I need to get dressed.  She climbed over Kayla.  What time is it anyway?

Noon, Kayla answered.

Damn.  I didnt know it was that late.  Kaylee stretched and yawned.

I need to get.  Kayla stood and headed for the door.  She turned in the doorway.  You should tell him.  With that said Kayla left.

Kaylee growled.  She picked up the remote for her stereo and hit random.  Addicted by Simple Plan started playing.

Shut up.  Kaylee turned off the stereo and threw the remote on the bed.

With out really caring she pulled on a pair of jeans and a black tank top.  On her way out the door Kaylee grabbed her keys, phone, and two way before slipping on a pair of sandals.

The drive to Barefoot took longer than it usually did, everyones lunch break was over and it was a mad rush back to work.

When she finally arrived Kaylee once again parked next to Joels Explorer.  She slowly walked inside and listened for any signs of conversation she didnt need to be involved in.  Kaylee couldnt hear anything so she opened the door.

Billy waved her in but motioned for her to be quiet.

She sat down next to him on the couch and leaned close to him.  Whats going on?

Benji and Joel are fighting about something.

Kaylee tensed.  What?

Some girl Benj was talking to on the internet.  They got in a fight or somethin and he has been real quiet ever since.  He wont talk to Joel, or anybody, about it and its pissing Joel off.

They sat in silence for a few moments.

I figured out where I saw your picture.  Maybe you can help me with this.  Why does Benji have a picture of his twin brothers girlfriend saved on his computer?  Youre her arent you.

Why do you have to be so damn insightful?  Yes its me.

Have you told Joel?

No.  I thought about it, but after what he said last night I cant.

Well the three of you need to work this out or somethin.  Ive never seen the two of them like this.

Kaylee stood and pressed a button on the sound board.  Think the two of you can get along long enough for me to say hi?

Benjis and Joels heads snapped up, looking strait at her.

Joel smiled and brushed past his brother, leaving the sound proof booth.  Whend you get here?  He kissed her lightly.

A couple seconds ago.  Is everything okay?

Its fine, Joel lied.  Just a fight between brothers.

Which isnt good.  You should fight with each other.

But you fight with Kayla constantly.

Yeah, about who used the last of the eyeliner with out replacing it.  Its never too deep.  And from the looks of you two in there, it was pretty heated arguing.  Come outside and talk to me.  Kaylee took his hand and led him out of the room.

Outside she sat on the opened tailgate of her truck, Joel stood between her knees glancing up at the skyline.

Whats going on with you?

Just stress

Joel, dont tell me that.  Youve practically told me your life story, and the main focus of you life has always been a combination of music and Benji.  So whats really going on?

Joel sighed and leaned down so their foreheads were resting against each other.  Its that girl I told you about.  The one on the internet he talked to for three years.  He wont talk to me about her anymore, and its killing me.

She couldnt look at him anymore.  Kaylee had to close her eyes.  Sit down for a sec.

He did as requested.

Youre gonna hate me, but I have to tell you.

What?  Joel looked up at her.  And I wont hate you, I cant have you.

Thats up for debate.  The girl Benji was talking to

Yeah?

Kaylees cell phone began ringing.  Kaylee Russell.  Im on my way.  She hung up quickly.  I gotta go.  Kaylee kissed him softly before closing the tail gate and starting to get into the cab of her truck.

What were you gonna say?  Joel followed her to her open window.

I gotta go.  Ill call you later.  She dropped the truck in gear and sped out of the parking lot.

Bye, he mumbled.

Kaylees tires squealed as she pulled into the malls parking lot.  She ran inside and turned the corner into a long corridor leading to the Mall Security Office.

Kaylee was almost out of breath when she opened the door.  Im Kaylee Russell.

Ms. Russell, have a seat.  The overweight rent-a-cop motioned towards a chair between Jessica and Jamie.

Can you tell me whats going on? she asked as she sat down.

Your sisters were in a fight with a few other girls in one of our stores.

Where are the other girls?

They left.  They didnt start the fight, so we didnt keep them.

Youre kidding me, right?  There was a fight and you only keep half of its participants?  Since when?

Your sisters started a fight with four other girls, Ms. Russell.  We dont allow that here.

Whatever.  Fine they wont come to this mall anymore.  Lets go.  Kaylee stood and ushered her sisters out of the room quickly.  Run to the truck, she ordered.

The three took off in a sprint down the hall, rent-a-cop panting behind them.

When they reached to truck Kaylee started driving before Jessica even had the passengers side door closed.

She didnt stop until they were a good three miles away.  Kaylee pulled into an empty warehouse parking lot and stopped the truck.  What happened?

We just in a fight with a couple girls, Jessica shrugged.

Why?

They were talking shit and it had to be dealt with.  Come on, Lee, youre the one who taught us to fight, you know we wont unless its really necessary. Jamie examined a scratch on her arm.

Did you kick their asses?

Yes.

Thats my girls.  Kaylee started the truck and pulled out of the parking lot.

Someones phone starting ringing.

Kaylee Russells phone, this is Jamie.  Shell call you back, okay?  Bye.  Jamie clicked off the phone.  That was Benji.  He wants to talk to you.

What about? Kaylee asked.

Ill give you one guess.

Kaylee sighed.  Im going back to Barefoot.  Do you wanna come with me, or go home?

Barefoot, the two answered in unison.

Gotta love the drama, Jessica smiled.
