| Profane is: Kurt-Vocals Tim-Bass Jason "Koz"-Guitar Johnny-Drums |
| Profane was formed in 1993. Its members have tried since then to establish themselves as a progress minded group, bent on portraying their lives and thoughts in their music. Members; Johnny Harke, drums; Kurt Vander Velden, vocals; Tim Beyer, guitar; and Jason Koslucher, bass, have strived to reach audiences as far reaching as possible. This has been done by promoting their music with extensive mailings, an internet presence, many compilation albums, and many interviews and reviews on radio as well as in print. Profanes' first release Social Suicide, an 8 song demo, was released in 1994 and concentrated on a thrash/speed metal sound influenced by bands such as Exodus, Anthrax, Sepultura, and Slayer. Their second release 1001 Proof, saw the band progress into a more rhythmic, chunkier sound reminiscent of bands like Machine Head and Fear Factory, while still keeping much of their original speed and power. The bands third release The Spoils of Burgalaratic Victory, was released in January of 2001 and has been their most successful venture to date, receiving mainstream airplay in several different markets and getting stellar reviews from many magazines and radio critics. Profane has turned up the intensity and focus for their latest release. Allowing more room to experiment with different styles and try to blur the lines that separate many of today's styles. Profane is also very active in trying to stop the violence seen at many concerts in recent times by promoting the ideal of positive energy release, instead of violence and hatred.
