Comprehensive Study Guide – Fall 2007

Civilizations/Topics are: SSA - Sub-Saharan Africa; IN – India; CH – China; XN – Christianity; MESO – Mesopotamia; EG – Egypt; GR - Greece and Hellenistic World; RO – Rome; ISL - Islam and Arab World; PRE - Prehistoric era; and PHAP - Phoenicians, Hebrews, Assyria, Persia.

The way to handle these is to set up a column or card for each of the 11 civilizations/societies, then go down the list placing each term into its civilization. That way you will be reviewing information about each civilization, rather than trying to memorize a bunch of disconnected terms.

The matching section of the exam will have 22 of these terms, and you will provide the name of the civilization. There will be four versions, of course. This means that each term will be used. 55 points available for this part, with 50 points as the divisor.

In the other half of the comprehensive section, you will be asked to select five of the terms on your exam sheet and write IDs for each one. EACH TERM MUST BE FROM A DIFFERENT CIVILIZATION. If you want bonus points, you may ID up to three additional terms--from civilizations not used in other IDs. home
