Objectives:

To gain an understanding of the English Romantic period, its ideas, and its writers through reading, discussing, and writing about a wide range of literary works in their social, political, historical, and aesthetic contexts.

    Duncan Wu (ed.), Romanticism: An Anthology (second edition)

    Jane Austen, Persuasion

Requirements:

Two tests (including take-home essay question of c. 5-7 typed pages)  30% each 
Final exam (including take-home essay question)  40%
Class participation, improvement, and other subjective factors will determine borderline grades.
