I looked high and low for a photo of myself that I liked. This is it, this is me, well, me at seven years old .I was born in CT, but grew up in Alabama. I came back to CT to stay with my grandmother, and I never went back.
I have three children, they are 27, 14 and 11 years old. And I have two grandchildren who reside in Maine that I share joint custody with the children's mother and they are 7 and 6 years old and I have Gurdianship over my 16 year old nephew.
I started college 10 years after I received my GED. I have an Associates Degree in Human Services from Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport, CT. From Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA I have my Baccalaureate in Developmental Psychology. And I have my Masters Degree in Counseling/Human Resources Development from Bridgeport University in Bridgeport, CT. I also have a Master Teaching Certificate for On-Line teaching from Making the Virtual Classroom a Reality through the University of Illinois at Springfield. I am a License Professional Counselor. And I have just started my doctrial progran in Psychology at Capella University .
Not only do I work here full time as an Assistant Professor in Human Services, I am an adjunct Adjunct Instructor at Post University, Saint Joseph College and also for the University of Bridgeport.
I am a part of the CT-1 DMAT (Disaster Medical Assistant Team, part of Home Land Security), as the Mental Health Officer. For the state of Connecticut I am a member of CTRP as a counselor to First Responders. I am also a member of the Community Mental Health Crisis Team. I currently am a Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress
Diplomate, The American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress.
