These are Posters made by and for the WPA. Originally called "Works Progress Administration" until 1939, this massive employment relief program was launched in 1935. The purpose was to put the unemployed back to work in jobs to serve the public good as well as conserve the skills and self-esteem of workers throughout the country. The WPA was formally ended in 1942. These photos are from The Library of Congress.
