Lake Mead National Recreation Area (NRA) does not consist of just the lake backed up by Hoover Dam, but has hundreds of surrounding acres that include many things to see and do. Three of America's four desert ecosystems--the Mojave, the Great Basin, and the Sonoran Deserts--meet in Lake Mead NRA. As a result, this seemingly barren area contains a variety of plants and animals, some of which may be found nowhere else in the world. You'll see several of these in this slideshow.
