These pictures were taken on Feb. 14, 2004. The first three pictures show what I can call my very first panel. What I actually did was cut some shapes out of cardboard just to get a feel for what looking at instruments through a panel could look like without going into serious construction. Later on that week I went out and brought some wood. I got 1/4" birch and using estimated measurements, I cut out my first panel. I later scraped this panel to start a new one after stumbling upon the simpit website. I went on to use the measurements found there to cut a panel at 3/4 scale (see Gallery 3) but later realized that it was going to prove to small and everything would be seriously cluttered. I have now opted to try again at 85% of the originals size. Also pictured here are rough dimensions of the throttle that I made by first cutting the basic shapes out of cardboard. This made it alot easier to determine the size for the different layers of wood that I would be using, and honestly, it's a big help, because the shape of these 757 throttles is not as simple as those of other aircraft. |
