"Attitude-challenged teenagers," Hunter echoed thoughtfully. "What are you, jealous?"
Cam raised his eyebrows, but he kept his gaze on the screen as it raced forward again. "Excuse me?"
"The guy knows how to get a date," Hunter pointed out. "Maybe you should take lessons."
Cam scoffed. "If someone ever tried to manipulate me like that, they'd find out just how fast I can make them a nonentity on this campus."
"Yeah?" Hunter sounded disturbingly speculative. "What if they weren't from this campus?"
It wasn't as cute as Hunter had probably meant it to be. "Then I'd ban them," Cam said, more sharply than he'd intended. "Don't you have something better to be doing right now?"
The hesitation was just long enough for him to wonder if Hunter might say yes. For some reason the thought disappointed him, and he frowned. Then Hunter replied, "Nope. Tell me more," and Cam's frown deepened.
He was relieved, and that annoyed him. He was also more than a little confused by Hunter's insistence that he "tell him more," and the confusion was more annoying than the relief. Hunter didn't care about Ranger history, which left Cam with the nagging suspicion that what he really wanted to know more about was what Cam would do to someone who... well, annoyed him.
He was afraid Hunter was about to find out.
