"Okay, next question." Hunter sounded more amused than annoyed now, and Cam could only think that was a bad sign. "Why are you watching this stuff in the first place?"

Definitely a bad sign. Cam confirmed another file and the data started to fly past again. "I'm just doing someone a favor," he told the keyboard. He didn't look up, certain he didn't want to see Hunter's expression.

"Who?" Hunter wanted to know. "Your friend the romance novelist, or your tabloid-studying journalist students? Today's headline: 'Hot Ranger Caught Slumming With Geek'--" He broke off abruptly.

There was a noticeable pause, which Cam ignored. Though they had never met, he had always felt something of an affinity for Billy Cranston. Hunter's typically ill-chosen words only confirmed it.

"No offense," Hunter added casually. The uncertainty was almost buried by his deliberately off-handed tone.

The corner of Cam's mouth quirked, and he refused to answer. It was about time Hunter felt some guilt for one of his outbursts. Cam wasn't going to let him off the hook just because he knew Hunter didn't mean to offend him.

"Hey." Hunter stabbed a finger at the screen. "That's not a public place. Since when do you watch for alien attacks inside people's homes?"

Against his better judgement, Cam slowed the data stream again.
