"That was disturbing," Hunter complained. "I thought it was bad watching chicks gab. I didn't need to see my bro being all emotional and..."
"Manipulative?" Cam suggested.
Hunter considered that for a moment. "That wouldn't work on you, huh?"
"Don't try it and find out," Cam said dryly.
Hunter didn't snicker. Instead, he sounded unusually serious as he agreed, "Got it."
Cam frowned at the screen, and the silence lingered long enough to be uncomfortable. "I don't know why she wants me to check stuff from last year," he muttered, mostly to himself and only for something to say. "It's not like she hasn't been in the system daily since the Dino Rangers appeared."
"I thought you said those tapes went straight to storage," Hunter said suspiciously.
"Well, ours do." At least, he thought they did. He didn't actually know if they were accessed later or not; he'd never bothered to check. "Hayley does her own filing."
"I can see that," Hunter agreed. His tone was perfectly neutral, but the implicit irony came through anyway. Cam chose not to answer.
"Is that Dr. Oliver again?" Hunter asked a moment later.
Cam rolled his eyes. "He attracts trouble," he said, by way of explanation.
"Yeah..." This time the wry tone was obvious, considering that most of the visible images on the screen now were of a normal everyday life. "Obviously."
