Sensei's origami dragon put Blake's seagull to shame, and Hunter would insist on making a big deal out of it. "A seagull with a broken beak?" his older brother inquired with a smirk.
"It has character," Blake said defensively. "What are you working on that's so great?"
Hunter shrugged. "Nothing much." Nonetheless, he produced a fair representation of a soldier for an origami piece that was made out of a napkin. This was followed by a second soldier, and Blake wondered suspiciously where he had gotten the second piece of cloth.
Hunter wasn't done, however. He had definitely cheated, Blake decided, watching the small army being assembled on the table. He just wasn't sure exactly how. "Bro," he said finally, when the cloth soldiers numbered eleven. Hunter was carefully tweaking their arrangement to provide maximum resistance to Sensei's dragon. "When did you have time to eat?" Blake wanted to know.
"Do you want to save your seagull or not?" Hunter demanded. He plucked the injured bird up off of the table and set it behind his soldiers. "Like your bird doesn't have enough problems without criticizing my napkin army."
"Are you going again?" Sensei asked.
Hunter only nodded.
Sensei Omino sighed. "I wish you would tell him that you watch over him at every event."
Hunter rolled his eyes. "Yeah... first off, he'd just love knowing that. Next, he's pretending nothing happened and I don't want to remind him. Three, I don't want to distract him from the race; D, I don't need his permission in the first place, and--"
Hunter broke off, caught his breath, and frowned a little. "What number am I on, again?"
"Hey, I was just in the area." Hunter looked like he was trying very hard to seem casual. "I thought Cam might still be up."
"Aw, you just missed him," CyberCam exclaimed. "Your timing's off, bro; he just headed off to bed a few minutes ago."
"Yeah?" Far from looking disappointed, Hunter appeared to be stifling a smirk. "Then I'd say my timing's just about perfect."
He turned and headed for the waterfall without another word, whistling an oddly cheerful tune as he went.
