Title:
Who Has the Revolution in New England?

Goal:
To learn and remember the different people and events that made up the American Revolution in New England.
Grade level: This lesson is designed for the eighth grade.

Time:
Introduction: 5 minutes
Game Cycle: est. 15 minutes
Multiple games at teacher's discretion
Estimated time of lesson: 20 minutes

Standards:
Historical Thinking: 2G, 2I

Objectives:
The students will complete at least one full cycle of an "I am/Who Has" game, to 100% accuracy, while looking at a previously completed map of Revolutionary New England.

Procedure:
1. The teacher should ask the students to take out the maps of New England that they filled in during the "Where in the World" lesson. These should have already been completed. Note: The large map used during the previous lesson should be put away.
2. The teacher should now pass out to the students the I Have/Who has? cards. Each students should receive one at first. Any extra should then be handed out. It is very important that every single one of the cards be handed out. The teacher can keep one, to start the game out.
3. The students should be instructed on how the game works. The teacher will start by reading the second part of his/her card (example, "Who has the person who led the American forces at the battle of Bennington?").
4. All of the answers to the I have/who has cards should be found somewhere on the students' maps. After looking at the maps, the student who has an "I have" card that matches the description should then speak up and read "I have John Stark."
5. The teacher, who should have a master list of the I Have/Who Has cards, should confirm the answer if it is correct. The student should then read the "Who has" portion of his/her card. The student with the correct "I have" card should respond, and the cycle continues until the last student reads the "Who has" statement that matches the teacher's "I have" card.
6 At the teacher's discretion, the class may repeat the entire cycle if time allows, or if the teacher feels that the students did not know the information well enough. It may be fun for the class to see how fast they can get through the entire cycle. It is advised that, if multiple games are to be played, that the teacher "shuffle the deck" and give students different cards.

Assessment:
Teacher observation of student participation

Extensions:
Students can be encouraged to create their own questions and answers, which the teacher can put together for a longer game.
