I've managed to combine interests in geography, history, and a drawing hobby into illustrated maps. I think I started in middle school and they have developed ever since. It's my major pastime, a great way to relax and relieve stress, and I learn a lot about each area I choose.

So what is an illustrated map?

Essentially, it's a map of a given area - a country, state, city, etc - surrounded by pictures of natural landmarks, historic places, and portraits of famous people who hail from that location. For example, my map of New England contains, among other things, pictures of the White Mountains, landmarks in Boston, lighthouses in Maine, Newport mansions, Vermont farms, and so forth. It also has portraits of people like Sam Adams, John Stark, Daniel Webster, Ethan Allen, and Ralph Waldo Emerson.

What maps have you done so far?

Here's a list of the maps I've completed in the past few years. Click on the name of the map to bring up a large image. Some maps are rather large, so two images are needed to show the detail. I'll warn you right now: I'm a better artist than I am a photographer!

Are any prints available?

As of yet, no. I'm looking into having prints made of the maps of the United States and the Monadnock Region. Visit again and maybe this will have changed!

You can see copies of the map of Jaffrey, NH in the Jaffrey Town Office, the Jaffrey Civic Center, and the new Welcome Center.

Thanks for visiting!
