So Good - Poetry Series
So Good To Hear Your Voice

I love hearing
your screams, laughter,
cries
so good to hear
the bullshit, the trauma
the joy

I love listening
to the jokes, the illusions
the falling through the ice
the sound of hair pulling
shoulder bending
knee cracking

Your voice filled sadness
tears choked back
long distance static
short distant yearn
a kiss pressed against an overseas rate

So good to share a half-baked continent
as soya soaks in curry
with garlic chopped so thin
and lunch turns into dinnertime
atlantic heaves a frozen tide

So good to hear your voice
amplified heart encounter
intimate DNA banter

So Good to Let It Roll

buried in truth
i blink and find your eyes
no fax, no need
you knew i was here
as words signal more than they show
and sounds of disturbance
melt away

a beach, a sideshow, an underground alleyway
all point home
the door is unlocked
you help me find my feet
all day, all night
no time like now
and we begin the process
begun those way back days ago

so good to let it roll
forget the thoughts
that cringe and clatter
release their hold
unplug the tape
lets move towards the empty sound of space

So Good To Whirl a Dervish

So good to sip coffee in the square
Detective joining, paying
eyeing your jeans
he wants the label
-(don't worry), don't sweat
he wants the dope
(yeah, yours) and mine

So good to walk the watermelon market
and pass out under impossible heat
So good to faint by the fishermen
The smell of Istanbul
a cruel taunt under the bridge

So good to whirl a dervish
Dream of a monastery
Santa Sofia and carpets
made of banter and fraud

So good to walk the queasy garlic road
in a language left unsaid
"How far is my hotel?"
So good to find a clean white bed

So good to know we're still not dead

So Good To Forget

so good to forget
how i loved you
how i craved you
how life was only my need of you

so good to forget
how i hated you
how i waited for you to leave
how life was the thing i did while you were gone

so good to forget
that i was pulled into pieces
chunks of licorice sticks
red, twisted with black
tart and chewy
so good to forget
so good to be with you

So Good To Smell the Sea

dust trails tumble me
weed wed, thorn led
so good to smell the sea

i scrape a seashell from a dune
listen to the ocean croon
so good to taste the salt

pour the desert from my day
parched and bleached, dizzy play
so good to swallow surf

paint the evening wet in roll
thunder fed fire whole
flames upon the beach
so good to smell the sea
