basic reaction

smell unripened pineapple
dream of bathing in its juice
hurdle past the Tea bar

mount hood looms over oregon
i know they make mount tens there
friends climb and send me proof
that mount tens rock somewhere

rock not paint
(i tell myself)
note ted for another life

flat you see has its charm
wheat fields stay where you put them
like the dog with no legs
where'd that mutt go?

but i digress
costumed in blood and flower pet
talls
you signify the other side
i'm short on snow.

yet think of friendly postcards
snowy days that earth quakes
shake daffodils for yellow dust
storms burst through the screen
and i breathe the earth into my lungs

paradise is an orange grove
breathe slow in eden breaths
peel away the mold.
