White Coat Ceremony
The White Coat Ceremony is one of the most
exciting and inspiring events of Orientation Week. It is a time to acknowledge
your entry into the medical profession and celebrate with friends and family.
This year, the White Coat Ceremony will be held on Sunday, September 16th.
A formal invitation will be sent to you later this summer, but for right now we
need two pieces of information. First, we need to order the all-important
garment, the white coat. You will wear your coat for the next four years at
Pritzker, so we need to get the right size. The coats are ordered in men's
jacket sizes 34 (smallest) to 50 (largest). Ladies, this may be a little tricky
for you, so get a hold of your dad/brother/neighbor's sport jacket and make a
good guess-timate. As a guideline, women average 36-42, men average 40-46. Keep
in mind, you will be wearing this coat over your everyday clothes (we hope), so
make sure you allow for a comfortable fit.
We
also need to have the names and addresses of people you would like to invite to
the ceremony. This is your moment to shine, so don't be shy-parents,
grandparents, siblings, relatives, and friends are welcome (technically, arch
nemeses are also welcome, but we've discouraged their attendance ever since
that Superman and Lex Luthor fiasco back in '78). We want you to feel free to
invite anyone you would like at the ceremony, though please refrain from
treating these invitations as announcements that you are starting medical
school. Invite only those people you think will actually be able to attend. Please
