Shop at Hyde Park Produce

That pass/fail doesn't necessarily mean you have THAT much more peace of mind

There is time to do studying and do other stuff.

Living with your best friend is the worst idea if you want to maintain the friendship

Take time to reflect

Hyde Park is awesome. Don't believe north-side hype.

Don't have 3 roommates who are non-med students - just don't do it!!!

Buy books SPARINGLY -- all you really need is the class notes and Review Books

How many opportunties (e.g. shadowing experiences) are available if we just ask!

Be open to change. Say yes to opportunities. Treat youself well. Take notes.

Be ready for bad weather... really bad weather.

Things are going to be just fine.

If you are considering buying, wait until next spring. More available and you’ll know area preferences.

If you have any kind of personal issues... straighten them out now.

Take advantage of the pass/fail system!!!

Don't feel guilty having fun...go out and enjoy the time while you can!!

Relax!

Don't work so hard

Don't worry when it is mid-way through winter quarter and you can't remember everyone's name.

Grocery shop at Dominick's on Roosevelt Road. It's the best.

How overwhelming first year feels at the start, and how fun it winds up being in the end.

Don't stress about everything!

Chicago is a hard city to be in without a car.

Don't buy the books until you know you need them.

Relax!!!

That I would probably _not_ need a car at all.

Contact current students to find housing

Move all your things into your apartment before orientation begins!! THere won't be much time...

Every effort is made by the school to see that you succeed. You are their investment.

You don't need to buy all the "required books"- they go out of date so fast anyways

Don’t fix up your car before coming here, it'll just get banged up.

Where to park if you commute to campus (55th street!)

To take good care of your personal life.

The wind can blow in all four directions at the same time. Wow!

To learn the public transport system

You still have time to do other things, and you will learn more by staying involved.

If you commute: get a car and a parking spot from day 1!!!

Hyde Park is pretty isolated within Chicago, so learn how to use public transportation to downtown

Remember to take time for yourself. Med school can be very overwhelming. Take care of you first!
