In the Hindu view of the world, as revealed in the Vedas and formalised in Sankara's Vedanta, there are no gods and goddesses in the traditional sense. There is no differentiation between the Creator and the creation - there only exists the absolute Brahman : without form and shape and beyond sensory perception. The first differential of this absolute Brahman, that begins to take shape in the world of sensory phenomena is the principle of the Purusha and Prakriti -- loosely translated as the masculine [Shiva ] and feminine [Shakti]. When Shiva is united with Shakti through the practice of Yoga, the illusory veil of Maya that differentiates the Creator from the Creation falls away and the human mind is united with the universal consciousness of the unmanifested Brahman. This is Nirvana. Hindu society has a history of such "evolved" persons who achieved this final unity. Some of them are mythical or quasi-historical, like Rama and Krishna. Some of them are very much historical like Chaitanya, Aurobindo and Ramkrishna, whose lives have been documented in great detail. Each of these men, had a feminine principle or consort without whom they could not have acheived the final unity. Rama had Sita, Krishna had Radha, Aurobindo had the "Mother" and Ramakrishna had Sarada. Jesus Christ was one such evolved person who saw the face of the absolute and achieved that ultimate Nirvana. Did he have a consort who was his Shakti ? The Roman Catholic Church would of course strenuously deny that Jesus was married .... but there exists evidence that Mary Magdalene, who is dismissed as a whore in the New Testament was indeed his legally married wife -- through whom he had children-- consort and Shakti. |
The last word ..... This article was not written to denigrate the towering personality of Jesus Christ. In my humble opinion he was a true Rishi [ or Sage ] in the finest tradition of Hindu Philosophy .... a true Yogi who had realised and experienced Nirvana. However after his "death" there was a power struggle for the inheritance of his great legacy. One one side were his wife Mary Magdalene and his children and on the other were a group of disciples and it was the latter who finally prevailed. The victorious party banished Mary Magdalene and formed the Imperial Church in Rome. To discredit Mary and her legacy, the Roman Catholic church took the absurd position that women were somehow unholy and unclean and should never be given any role within the church. However the presence of Jesus' children [ his "bloodline" ] was a very major threat to the supremacy of the Roman Catholic church, which left no stone unturned to hunt down the "bloodline" descendents of Jesus Christ and their followers. This was the cause of the Inquisition where hundred of so called heretics were tortured and killed. However a movement that had its roots in the towering personality of Jesus Christ cannot be wiped away by brute force of the Roman Catholic Church. It survives, thrives and grows as it is doing today, through this new Age technology of this website. Satyameva Jayate : Truth Shall Triumph December 25, 2000. |
