PRISM Name
1. We believe in a Higher Power.

Who, or What, This Is (and whether or not to call It God) we leave to the individual.  There is undeniably Something that sometimes connects us all; at times seems to guide us.  Some of us have had direct personal experience with It.  We do know It exists.

2. We believe in Personal Medicine.

Every individual seems to have something that comforts them on a spiritual level.  Whether this is purely a psychological response, or something genuinely paranormal it merits attention, and is an observed practice of the PRISM Church.

3. We believe in the right-hand and left-hand path.

We believe the spiritual and carnal are not separate, not opposites, not diametrically opposed.  We do not see a need to experience only one side of our nature.  There are times when Dark Energies are appropriate as well as Light Energies.  They are both part of us.  they are gifts of the Is.  They are one and the same, and there for our benefit.

4. We believe in ritual.

Every person has a built-in need for ritual and contact with the metaphysical.  We believe it right that humankind should satisfy this desire.  Whether the atheist is right, who believes this is simply a coping and survival mechanism, or the spiritualist, who believes there is a genuine communication with the Divine is correct does not matter to us.  The practice of "religious" ritual fulfills the human spirit, and it is right and good to practice such.

5. We believe in freedom from absolute religious dogmas.

We are not connected with any other movement or organization and have no rigid dogmas with regard to the mysteries of the universe.  We are seekers of truth.  We have rituals and guidelines, but remain ready for change.  We embrace science, and long to know the true nature of things.  Our beliefs should always be open to new knowledge.  Just because science eventually explains a phenomenon, does not make it any less miraculous.

6. We believe that life, sentience, our very consciousness are miraculous in themselves.

It truly is a miracle that we have the power of thought - That we are alive, and self-aware.  When science eventually explains the biological reasons we have thought, we will still have no more than a biological reaction.  What makes something self-aware?  Life and sentience will always be a wonder.  A chemical reaction will never explain the Force that underlies consciousness, but only the process by which it is channeled.  We are the Ultimate Wonders.

7. We believe in personal freedom.

Implicit in true freedom is personal responsibility.  We have a deep respect for the rights of others.  Freedom without regard for others is anarchy.  The Seventh Statement ought never be used as an excuse to abandon personal responsibility, or to violate the rights of others.
