The way which farm animals are treated is horrible. Some of us know this already, but do we really know just HOW terrible? As children, we learn that farm animals are respected and are cared for from things like children's stories and such; actually it's quite the opposite.
Yes, it is an extremely bad life for farm animals in California at least. There are four major chicken farms for example...
~6 chickens are crammed into 16x18. This is extremely cramped <do the measuring for yourself!>
~90% of the farm-raised chickens have leucosis <or chicken cancer>.
~Also...A NEW BREEDING BREAKTHROUGH! NOW...you can rearrange the genetic information of a chicken! You can take out the gene that makes them grow legs, and then PRESTO! We have legless chickens! How convenient! This practice is not yet popular, but is increasing at a fast rate.
~Chickens that "peck" <it's a natural instinct when you're crammed into cages 16x18> get "debeaked". They are taken to a machine, which simply cuts their beaks off.
PIGS
~80% have pneumonia
~70% are crippled
COWS
~Bulls are castrated without ANY anesthetic!
~COW DIET = feathers, processed sewage, grease <edible tallow>. poultry litter, cement dust topped off with some artificial food taste!
Drugs make cows really hungry. HUNGER = FAT COWS. FAT COWS =MONEY!
BABY COWS
~The NEVER touch the ground.
~No water. They need iron so badly that they'll drink and lick their own urine if they can get to it.
~Sent to auction at one day old.
~WHEN YOU EAT VEAL YOU'RE EATING A FOUR MONTH OLD BABY COW!
~They're so weak, anemic, and malnutritioned that they would soon die anyway.
Yeah, it's pretty harsh. But what are we going to do? No, I don't mean what are we going to do to take action about this. I mean what are we going to do to stop eating meat.
~IT'S SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN YOU CAN GET A BETTER AMOUNT OF PROTEIN FROM A VEGETARIAN DIET.
~Chickens are kept in wire cages a few feet abrove the ground so that their feet are permanently deformed.
~Some of the larger animals <cows, pigs> go into the slicer ALIVE.
~Cows and pigs are hung upside down by their feet <alive> while a man cuts a hole in them and drains their blood into a bucket.
~Most pigs and cows never ever get out of their tiny stall until slaughter house day.
