Happy
New Year to All! 2003 was a good year for Princeton Rod and Gun. 2004 should be
even better. This newsletter is being sent to all members to keep everyone up
to date on club business.
2003
·
Election results for our 2004 Officers are as
follows:
Joe Conrey: President
Steve Fitzsimmons: Vice President
Chuck Wilkins: Treasurer
John Hance: Secretary
Mr. John Bloom: Trustee
John Conrey: Trustee
Mr. Al Massa: Trustee
·
We brought in 4 new members in 2003. Dennis
Moore, James “Matt” Cronin,
Walt Cheeseman “Jr.” and “Uncle” George Spiridis. We are glad to have them
aboard.
·
Our new well is providing us with all the
water we need. Final approval is work in progress.
·
Thanks to Mr. Osmun for his electrical work
that repaired the kitchen exhaust fan and provided new outlets in the
bunkrooms.
·
Dave Russell’s bar stool cushions and Joe
Ryan’s stainless steel kitchen prep table both got a good workout during Deer
Week.
·
Chuck Wilkins has been working hard to keep
our web site up to date. Check it out!
·
At the 1-18-2004 meeting, Cabin Committee
Chairman T. McCarty presented his final report for our 2003 deer week. Total
cost to the club was $1438.46. Once again Terry kept us within our budget, even
though we had some of the highest attendance numbers by members and guests in
the past 4 years. Everyone ate well due to “The Chief’s” good cooking, leaving
us with few leftovers.
·
Unfortunately, the deer did not cooperate with
us this year. Tom Geherty Jr. was the only member with a confirmed kill.
2004
·
Welcome to Kris Austin who is our first new
member of 2004. Kris will serve
as a Junior Member sponsored by Al Massa.
·
The big discussion at the 1-18-2004 meeting
was our oil furnace. It is still giving us trouble even after numerous
repairs. A motion was made and passed by
the members present to purchase a new propane furnace. J. Mortiz will try to obtain one for us,
depending on availability. The furnace will have a 90,000 BTU output and will
cost $350.00. Joe Conrey checked with our propane supplier, and found that we
could get a free inground submarine style propane tank with hook-ups to the
cabin as long as we sign a 5-yr.
contract for all our propane needs. Interior connections and installation of
the furnace may incur some additional costs, depending how much work we can do
ourselves.
·
Also discussed at the meeting was the donation
of a wood stove by M. Burley. A motion was made and passed that we get the
stove. It was suggested that it be installed in the fireplace, which would no
longer be used. Other installation options were discussed, but it was agreed
that once we get the stove, installation plans would then be finalized.
·
It was also suggested at the January meeting
that we form a “Buildings and Grounds Committee”. This committee would oversee
repairs, improvements, routine maintenance purchases, establish work weekend
agendas and work with outside contractors. Since this will be a standing
committee, the by-laws will have to be revised to include this committee and
list its responsibilities. As you may know, any vote on a by-laws change
requires all members to be notified in writing. This newsletter will be
considered as written notification. If you wish to voice your opinion, please
attend the February 15th meeting when a final vote on the formation
of this committee will take place. The exact duties of the committee will also
be discussed. If you would like to be considered as a member of the committee,
please let us know.
·
As in the past, the scheduled monthly meeting
dates are the 3rd Sunday of the month. All members are strongly
urged to attend. If it is decided to postpone a meeting until the following
month, it will be posted on our website.
·
No dates have been set for 2004 work weekends.
If the new Buildings and Grounds Committee is formed, I’m sure they will get
something organized for this spring. Again, keep checking the website where
dates and details will be posted along with other important club info. Just go
to http://www.geocities.com/princetonrodandgun.
·

encouraged to use the facilities year round. Take the time to come down and
enjoy it. All we ask is that you PLEASE be safe keep the building and grounds
clean.
