| When Toby walks into Bartlet for America headquarters after dropping Andi off at the hotel, CJ is sitting at her desk reading the local newspaper. Toby clears his throat to begin speaking, and CJ puts down her newspaper. She begins speaking before he can decide how to apologize. "The Governor's speech is good. I just finished reading it. I have a few issues with the language in the D-section, though. Do you want me to go over them with Sam?" Toby's a bit taken aback at the icy tone of her voice, but he shouldn't have expected less from Claudia Jean Cregg. |

| "Um, yeah. Hey, CJ, I know I don't deserve your forgiveness, but you gotta believe me when I tell you that-" CJ cuts him off before he can say another word. "So, I'll find Sam when he gets in and we'll fix the language. The Governor is scheduled to appear on the 'Today' show this morning. I called inj a few favors, so, if there's nothing else I really need to get going. The local affiliate is only a few minutes away, but I really need to make sure he's ready." CJ stands and begins folding up her newspapers, but Toby isn't quite finished speaking. "CJ, there is something else and you know it. Now, quit being impossible and let me finish!" |

| A few hours after his last conversation with her, Toby watches CJ walk out of the ballroom followed by John Hoynes. He had sent Andi home an hour ago because she has an important meeting in the morning. He had really sent her home so that he could keep an eye on CJ. He had to be there to keep CJ from making the mistake he's almost sure she's on her way to making now. | ||||||||||
