| "CJ, would you slow down please!" Toby is trying to catch up to CJ, who is almost to his car. She stops walking and sits on the hood to wait for him. He sits down next to her to catch his breath. He has smoked too many cigars to be running after anyone, let alone a six-foot-tall woman with legs that go on for miles. "He didn't mean it, CJ. He's nervous and he over-reacted." CJ glares at Toby. "That doesn't give him any right to accuse me of something I would never do!" Toby shoots her a glare. "CJ." She glares right back at him. "Okay... I would never do with you. The time you're talking abotu was a mistake, and if I could take back on decision in my life, it woulc be when I decided to get in that elevator. I hate myself for that mistake, but it's over. And it's never going to happen again. I am not that kind of woman; I refuse to be that kind of woman. And I am so sick of people taking one look at me and thinking that they know me! Holy Hell, Toby! I can't believe you're not offended. He accused you, too." | |||||||||||||||
| Toby nods and chuckles. "Yeah, but he remembered my name that time, so I'm thrilled." CJ laughs then, because Toby doesn't look thrilled. He looks the same no matter what. Some of the tension leaves her body as she laughs. "You can't go to Hoynes, CJ. This is the guy." She nods. "I was bluffing. Get him to apologize and I'll come back." | |||||||||||||||

| CJ looks around the room Toby had shown her into. "Toby, what on earth could you possibly want to talk to me about in a bathroom?" She leanes up against the counter and glares at him. "I forgot it was a bathroom, CJ. I just wanted to tell you that I'm sorry about Andrea." CJ sighs and grabs the bottle of wine from Toby's hand and takes a drink. "You don't need to apologize, Toby. If I were her, I'd hate me, too." Toby walks over and leans against the counter next to CJ. "She doesn't hate you, CJ. She's just...nervous." CJ takes another long drink before arguing. | |||||||||||||||
| "Yes, Toby, Andrea hates me. I'm not married, but I'm pretty sure I'd hate another woman for being in love with my husband if I was. I understand that she feels threatened by me." Toby grabs the win from CJ and takes a long gulp before responding. "What possible reason could Andrea have to feel threatened by you?" At first, CJ doesn't think Toby understood what she said, but the look on his face tells her that he's simply overlooking it. Thank God. "You write me letters, Toby. You invited me to your wedding when it was clear that she didn't want me there. I imagine she asked you not to invite me tonight, but you did." Toby sighs. "You're right, she did ask me not to invite you." CJ looks over at Toby. "So, then, I'm confused. Why am I at a party for your wife against her wishes?" | |||||||||||||||
| CJ takes the bottle back from Toby and takes a drink. "Because this is my apartment, too. Because you're my friend and I haven't seen you in forever. And because I hate every single person out there." CJ looks at her feet, suddenly finding her expensive boots fascinating. "Everyone, Toby?" He nods. "Andi and I are having problems already. She's asked me to move out for a while." She hands him the bottle. "I'm sorry things aren't working out." Toby chuckles. "The thing is...I'm not sure I am." | |||||||||||||||
