Here you can get a better idea of some of the work involved in this project. Each of the flowers is individually embroidered with silk ribbon using a chenille needle. The stems and vines are feather stitched using silk cording, the "windows" are buttons that were attached with perle cotton using bullion stitches. The little shiny object on the left-hand birdhouse is a hummingbird button that has a metallic glazed finish.
The embroidery is about 2/3 of the way completed. Next steps will be adding borders, batting and backing, then hand quilting the "sandwich." I will add more photos as visible progress is made. 7/3/02 |
