Of all of Arwen's dresses, I would have to say that the Hope Dress is my least favourite (though it is still a costume masterpiece !)  Yes, yes, I know that there are many of you who disagree with me.  I'm sorry to disappoint you.

This burgundy velvet gown appears in the scene where Elrond, one of the few High Elves remaining in Middle Earth, pleads with his daughter Arwen (who has elected to remain behind to wait for her lover, Aragorn) to leave and go on to the Undying Lands, where she will remain forever more.  Arwen remains convinced, despite all the obstacles, that all hope has not gone from Middle Earth, which is quickly descending into evil.

The dress is a burgundy velvet, with an off-the-shoulder cowl neck that is approximately 12 inches wide.

The sleeves are a pale mauve color, with a floral pattern stitched in silver.  alleycatscratch indicates that there is also an undersleeve to this dress, which I have never noticed before.  They also have the pattern for the embroidery on the sleeves, so go and check them out !

At the back of the dress is a small train, about 4 - 6 inches or so.

The below shot has an excellent view of the Hope Dress sleeves, and the embroidery pattern.

The shot to the left is a good reference for the shape of the sleeves on the dress.

Much thanks to alleycatscratch.
