This romantic gown is perhaps my favourite in the whole movie. Its beauty and ethereal quality make it perfect for an elvish noblewoman such as Arwen.

The dress is a long, creamy-white beaded gown. As you can see by the picture to your left, it has a deep, yet narrow cowl-neck - the neckline is a low, wide scoop and draped with the narrow cowl.

The sleeves of the dress leave the shoulder bare (my favourite feature of the dress).

The fabric on the cowl is different to that on the sleeves and body on the dress.

The fabric is tight under the bust.

The outer layer of the dress is made from a pre-beaded, off-white crinkle chiffon or georgette fabric. The underlayer of the dress is made from an opaque silk, perhaps a china silk. The underlayer is only used for the body of the dress, not for the neck or the sleeves.

This dress has two layers - the inner dress ends at floor level. The outer dress has a narrow train, which looks to be almost 2ft long (see the photo on your left). The dress is tightly fitted across the waist, but then loosens into a "sweeping skirt".

The long sleeves of the dress fall almost to the knees. They are one part, and a sort of rectangular shape. It is just the bottom two-thirds of the dress that are attached - higher attached in the back and starting lower at the front. The sleeves are cut up the center on the outer side, with the slit extending all the way to the elbow.

These images are the best guess we have at Arwen's bridge dress, given to us from the Weta Workshop statuette of Arwen and Aragorn.

There is quite possibly no zipper on this gown, but rather a long tie, as shown on the Weta statuette to the left. It pulls and shapes the gown so that there will be no need for a zipper.

To the left is a close-up of the beautifully beaded outer layer of the dress. The layer is embroidered with gold thread - a shiny rayon or silk embroidery thread, it is not metallic. The embroidery is a swirly, random pattern of curly q's. Within the enclosed circles are stitched a gold pearl or gold lustre bead, seated on what looks like a fabric sequin - thicker than the average sequin.
