About Ramadevi:
--Ramadevi is an Eastern Indian princess of semi-divine origins. She is, in fact, an avatar (corporeal manifestation) of a minor Egyptian deity. Her powers are basically earth/fertility and elementally oriented. She can control weather, heal injuries, and rejuvenate sterile soil. Her powers is released and controlled through raw organic energy brought upon by her bellydance. Mythology states that she need only walk in a garden for it to bloom fully and perfectly, and folk tales state that witnessing her dance can promote fertility in childless couples.
--Ramadevi is very beautiful. Her complexion is smooth and perfect, the shade of clear honey covered in golden cream. Her heart-shaped face has a rounded chin and high cheekbones, lending her a sweet doll-faced look. Her lotus-petal eyes are extremely dark and very large, almost too large to be beautiful, set slightly aslant so that the outer corners tilt upwards. Her eyebrows are curved and moderately thick and her nose is slender, slightly long. Her mouth is deep pink, lush and full, begging to be kissed. Her hair is deep burgundy black, very shiny, and extremely curly, falling down to her waist. She has a fit, beautiful, voluptuous body, almost an hourglass except her large round breasts are a little too full to balance her slimmer, curved hips. She has beautiful muscle definition and is extremely supple and flexible. Her limbs are lithe and elegant and she has long graceful fingers.
~Angelus & Ramadevi~
Angelus, in rare playful moods, refers to her as *Padmini,* his Lotus Woman, (ref Kama Sutra):
She is as beautiful as the lotus blossom; she is *Rati* {pleasure, desire} incarnate...Her body is shapely and soft...Her gait is proud and dignified, like that of a swan...Her delicate smooth skin is...soft to the touch. Its color is golden when light shines on it....Her voice resembles the call of the male Kokila bird to its mate; her words are like nectar of the gods to hear...every perfume suits her fragrance; bees hover about her as if she were a flower overflowing with pollen...
--Angelus is in love with Ramadevi. He would rather die than admit it to her personally. Their relationship has an extremely passionate and erotic dynamic. Ramadevi fascinates him because she is so entirely different from himself. He is scornful of her powers and considers her weak compared to himself. Angelus does not understand the value of living/organic magic. He does very much enjoy the more erotic aspects of her power. Angelus always takes the very best care of Ramadevi and he will not allow others to hurt or cross her.
--Ramadevi is in love with Angelus. Their life together did not begin well, but in the years theyve been together she has come to greatly admire Angeluss (admittedly few) redeeming qualities. Angeluss temperament and personality are, slowly, affected by the Red Gold in her veins. She is confident of her bloods value to him and knows he will not harm her.
At the same time, she fears him because she has seen, first-hand, the types of cruelty and violence Angelus is capable of. On the other hand, Ramadevi has also witnessed the kind of violence and cruelty humans are capable of as well.
The very fact that Angelus is a demon adds to his appeal for Ramadevi. She is basically alone in the world, orphaned. Angelus is not an easy creature to kill. He is ruthless, strong, and ready to do what it takes to survive. Ramadevi is also a product of her tradition early 19th Century upbringing in an eastern harem. She is NOT a submissive, but she is a pragmatist and behaves towards Angelus as a dutiful wife and consort. As an adult she understands that Angelus has claimed her, but he also fascinates her and she does not wish to leave him.
--The attraction/fascination between Angelus and Ramadevi is based upon the natural attraction that would exist between two powerful beings. They are both very powerful and confident in different ways but they are never entirely certain of where they stand with each other. Angelus is suspicious by nature and he cannot believe Ramadevi would willingly chose to remain with him, as his consort and vessel (Red Gold) because he kidnaped her and held her against her will for several years. He can never bring himself to truly set her free to love him because he fears her rejection and loathing. Ramadevi understands this but at the same time she is hurt because of it.
--Angelus and Ramadevi enjoy a EXTREMELY healthy and active erotic attraction. Ramadevi has been educated in lovemaking since childhood and is utterly uninhibited about her sensual nature. Angelus, raised in the prudery of mid-18th Century Ireland, revels in the diversity of Ramadevis passions. He has never met a lady (much less a noblewoman) so unashamed of sexuality and unafraid of erotic variation. Although it took many years for them to become lovers, the force of their bond (through blood and sex) is very powerful and grows stronger over time.
Simply put, the more they have, the more they want.
~Ramadevi & Vampire Xander~
I decided to provide the Rama/Vamp Xander pairing as an alternative to writers who might prefer to write in a more modern setting. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thank you for reading at BiNE!!!
Her silky hair is long and wavy, black as a panthers fur, a halo around her face...Her tresses flow like waterfalls over her rounded shoulders...Her forehead is smooth; her eyebrows are perfect crescents, and when she is in the throes of passion, her brows resemble the god Kamas bow...
Her marvelously shaped eyes sparkle, as gentle and soft as a deers...Her pupils are as black as the night, and contain sparks like stars in the heavens...Her long silky lashes are a window to her soft glance...Her teeth are as white as jasmine from the Arabian desert, and look like ivory. When she smiles, her teeth are like white pearls on a coral bed...
When she dips herself in a hidden spring, the sight engenders love. The gods themselves tremble with desire when they see the Padmini in the water...
Her beauty is enhanced by jewelsfew in numberon her arms and ankles...She loves white dresses, white flowers, handsome jewels and rich garments. She wears a white dress made of fine white muslin...
Her singing is harmonious...When she dances, her body and arms move in perfect harmony, even though, because of her great modesty, she does everything in her power to conceal the charms of her body...Her conversation is pleasant and her smile warm; she is amenable and responsive, and enjoys amusements and pleasure...Her talents enable her to accomplish any task that she is given...
She is generous to the poor and gives of her husbands possessions to the oppressed...She enjoys making love with her husband, and knows how to enhance his desire with her caresses...She is faithful to her husband and will not share her love with any other man. Her life, her thoughts, and her emotions are devoted to her husband.
The god of love will lose himself in endless pleasures at her side...All her qualities are perfect...Padmini, a woman of many qualities, was given many names by poets and each name serves to emphasize her qualities:
Loves treasure! The purest of women! The woman in whom love will overcome desire! The woman of love!
*The woman to whose love nothing can be compared...*
--How did Ramadevi, a young woman living in the early 1800's, end up in the Wishverse?
No one seems to know for sure. At first, the Master authorised his flunkies to research Ramadevi and try and discover where she came from but even Rupert Giles struck dead ends. Xander strongly (correctly) suspects Ramadevi was transported to his world through magical means of some sort. He guesses (again correctly) that the Master may be behind the strange memory lapses Ramadevi has about her past.
--How did Ramadevi end up sealed to Xander?
Shortly after feeding, Xander found Ramadevi, alone and confused, wandering in the Sunnydale playground frightened by the sight of a pickup truck driving down the street. Enticed by the rich scent of her blood ("Red Gold") Xander took her in his arms and fed from her. As she lost consciousness (from fright or blood less) the vampire's inhibition not to kill/destroy "Red Gold" kicked in and Xander fed her back her own blood tainted with the blood of his kills, the traditional manner to "seal" and bind a "Red Gold" vessel and his/her keeper.
--Do Xander and Ramadevi love each other?
The dynamics of Xander and Ramadevi vastly differ from Angelus/Ramadevi. Angelus fostered and raised Ramadevi when she was still a young girl and there has always been a paternal quality to their relationship. Xander, a younger and less powerful vampire, sees and views Ramadevi as his equal and his lover. Ramadevi finds Xander very desireable and handsome. He caters to her in many ways and treats her very well.
Unfortunately, Ramadevi always has the nagging fear that "something isn't right" in her life. She recognises Xander is her bound mate and life partner but she cannot help thinking that she is "out of place." Xander lives in fear that one day she will disappear just as abruptly as she came into being in his life and his own life would be ruined. There is always a desperate note to their love for each other.
--Has Ramadevi met Angel/puppy?
Angel confuses and disturbs Ramadevi. He strikes a familiar chord inside her that leaves her baffled. At the same time, she knows he is not "the one" she recalls in brief flashes of memories about her past.
