So Scared

Bird Girl

You and I
Share something
Better than possible.
I love you
But it's more than that.
Love came first
And then we found friends.

And now I am so scared
Afraid to lose my friend
But I need freedom,
Not ready for marriage,
Scared of the commitment
You are willing to make.

Not yet twenty,
Too young to know life,
Too young to rush to find out,
So confused and so scared,
Afraid of life,
Trembling at the future.

Not meaning to play with your emotions
Only scrambling all of mine.
Everytime I think I know
I find out I am human
And I am wrong.

Eternity with you
Would not make me unhappy
But I would be the one
Questioning
Am I happy?
Or am I settled?

Three quarters of my life left
Or maybe just a day.
So scared to end alone,
So scared to just give in
But above all else
So scared to lose you-
My love and my friend
Which way do I go?
Content and happy
Or eternity searching
For that which may have
Passed me by.
