We arrived at Rockin' Rodeo and noticed that they had live music playing on the left side of the club that was usually blocked off.  So we went in there, and discovered that it was $10 for each of us to enter being that it was a concert.  Although I am a very traditional person and have what some call old fashioned rules, I am a woman of the 21st century.  And being that kind of person I thought it would be nice if I offered to pay for our tickets into the concert since he was so kind to buy dinner.  Miek agreed and so I paid the bouncer $20 and as soon as we walked in the door we both knew we were in the wrong place.  The small portion of the club was filled with old old old people, sitting in chairs listening to an old old old man strum his guitar while he tells a story about a country singer he once knew. Oh brother!  All we wanted to do was dance, so we exited that side of the club and walked around to the other side where we heard loud music playing.  The bouncer on the right side wouldn't let us in without paying again because we were minors.. good news was it was only $7 a piece.  I stepped up and shelled out $14 and Mike didn't hesitate or stop me.  We went in and sat down while they were playing booty music and waited for the usual 4 song run to end so we could jitterbug or two step.  We sat there for a long time, and since I went every week, the DJ and I became friends so I went to request some country and thats when I found out the bad news.... Rockin' Rodeo doesn't play country on Friday nights.  Ahhhhhh.... then I had to brake the news to Mike.  We were both a little put out, but decided to go to the other club in town, where they have 2 levels, one for booty and one for country. It cost ME another $14 to get us both into that club and FINALLY Mike was able to take my hand and lead me out on the dance floor to some Sammy.  Now by the time we had made it to this point it was 11:00 p.m. and I was out $48 bucks.  With only an hour left to dance, I wouldn't let Mike sit down at all... we stayed on the dance floor until they kicked us out at midnight.
He took me home.... The date was less than I expected but i did enjoy dancing for an hour.  He called the next night and asked me to the movies..   We didn't know what we wanted to see so he came over to my apartment early to check out times and hang out a bit. Bad idea!  ( This part of the story will be inserted at a later time)
I agreed and we saw umm... I can't remember exactly what we watched... it was some action movie. Mike grabbed my hand during the movie and put it on his knee... ok, weird!  It would be different if it was a romance movie.. but nevermind.  Well, the movie was over and he brought me home.
He wanted to come up because he says its still early.  So he comes up, we walk in the front door, and both of my roommates are in the kitchen.  One is cleaning out the fridge and the ohter is around the corner sitting on the washing machine.  And as far as she knows, I come in alone.  They ask how the movie was, and I tell them about it.  Then as Mike and i were sitting at the bar, my roomate who is on the washing machine asks me if he kissed me... she can't see around the corner, and doesnt' know he is right there.. Mikes face turns bright red (it doesn't really bother me) I lean way over to make eye contact with her and tell her that he is right here if she wants to ask him.. everyone is embarassed.  Then he asks if we can go into my room. I think its a little strange, but I feel safe, both my roomates are there...so we go into my room and he is looking at all my pictures and he says "you have such a girly room" in a way that didn't sound like a compliment.  He asks if he can shut my door... I feel a little strange about this... but say, "okay" in my nervous voice.   So I sit on my bed, he keeps pacing around the room looking at pictures and comes across my cd graveyard.  Oh no.... things take a nose dive.  He pulls out an old Garth Brooks CD and puts it in.  then he tells me that he has something for me... Oh geeze!   He puts on "Thunder Rolls" and sits in my computer chair and sings along with Garth so intently!!!  I want to scream, laugh, leave, point.. I didn't know what to do. he was singing so seriously, I had hoped that he was teasing, just joking around... but he wa so into it.  he started playing air drums at one point and he would squeeze his eyes closed and clinch his fist... I was like.. oh my gosh!  So I just looked at him as little as possible, it was the only way I could keep from laughing out loud.  I looked at the floor, at the ceiling, at him... then I'd have to look away before I burst into laughter.   The song lasted forever... and finally it was over. I was so relieved.  I went on to tell him that he has such a good voice, and I politely thanked him for sharing that with me.
As I stood to get out of that room he stood up and grabbed my hand and said "wait, i have another song for you."  II didn't know what to do.  So I forced a smile and said "oh good."  LOL
He put it on "unanswered prayeres" and tried to saunter over to me and and asked me to dance... oh geeze!  So he 2-steps with me in my little bedroom.... singing right into my ear, we just dance around and around in a little circle as he sings in my face.  He is right there... holding me .. .. way .... way.. .. too tight.  It was awful!  He finally left, and asked me to walk him out.  Tthe stairs were as far as I went.  I waved goodbye, never talked to him again... I saw him one other time at the club about a year later..  We just said hello and he told me this unlikely story about how he is a police officer in South Padre... I highly doubt that.
