| When I was 15 and recieved my permit to drive with a parent, my mother would take me out a couple times a week to practice. We would drive around neighborhoods and parking lots, she would teach me how to use a turn signal and how to check my blind spot. One evening, she told me that I should practice going through a drive through restaurant because it can be tricky pulling up the the window and making the tight turns. I was so excited! This was the first time that I got to drive through the take out window!! Stoked we pulled up to the menue and prompter and the lady said "Welcome to McDonalds, may I take your order?" Grinning, I responded with "I'd like to order one water and... " turning to my mom "do you want anything?" She shook her head no, so I turned back to the speaker and said "Thats everything." My mom gasped and told me that I can't go through the drive through and just order water. I told her that I wasn't hungry and I was just thirsty, and I didn't understand what the big deal was... She talked me into adding a large fry to my order and changing my water to a sprite. My family will never let me live that moment down. :-) |
