Chapter 19: The Hidden Castle Hotel
We've been on the road for three days with 1600 more miles to San Francisco. We've had a lot of crazy adventures during our trip, but I only have time for one. So, I'll tell you about the haunted motel we stopped at.
We had just entered the California border, and were headed towards the town of Redding. London celebrated by bursting into "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?" with his poor singing voice. If you thought that was torture for us…
"I can't take it anymore!"
Crisis screamed. "Make him stop, Tokyo-san!""Hey London!"
Juunanogou called to his fellow android. "Do us a favor! Shut up!""The bikes don't like your singing." I warned London. He ignored me completely.
London singing? The story got scary already!
After a grueling five miles later…
"Uh oh…" London moaned.
" 'Uh oh' what?" I asked. London stared at his gas meter.
"Outta gas." He flatly stated.
"Uh oh." I bit my lip. "And it's twenty miles until the next gas station."
"Crap." London muttered. "Now what?"
"Hey! Look!" Tokyo shouted, pointing ahead of us. We looked in that direction to see a quaint, motel looking complex building on the side of the road. There was a gas station next to it!
"Wow! I gasped. "A stroke of luck. A small business lot."
"Thank you, God!" London cried out into the air.
"Well, let's pull in and give London's bike a refill." I suggested, slowing down Juunanogou.
"Well, it got London to stop singing."
My bike sighed in relief. We pulled into the gas station, and we all gave our bikes a refuel of gasoline. As Juu-kun and Crisis began a friendly chat, London, Tokyo, and I walked towards the cashier to pay for our gas.
At the register was a middle-aged woman who was absolutely delighted to see us. She introduced herself as Dove Darrow, but insisted that we call her "Mom" (I decided to call her "Ms. Darrow" instead.) since the hotel staff called her that. She was very talkative (once she got started, she couldn't stop) and she had a tendency to giggle. It took us ten minutes to get out of the building.
"Where were you guys?"
Juunanogou asked me as I hopped onto the seat."The cashier person wouldn't let us go." I answered. "Let's go already."
"Forget it." Both Tokyo and London disapproved.
"Huh?"
"It's getting late," London said, pointing at the sunset, "and we haven't stopped to sleep in two days."
"We'll take a room in the motel." Tokyo suggested. "They should have some water or other drinks as well."
"Tokyo Kid," I began to scold, "weren't you the one who suggested that we shouldn't stop at motels?"
"I said we should try to avoid motels if we can," he insisted sternly, "but in this case we have no choice. London is right, and we need beverages."
I frowned. He was right. They were both right.
"Alright." I gave in. "Who's paying?"
We looked at each other, uncertain.
"One-two-three-not-it!" London shouted.
"Not it!" I called out. Tokyo looked between the two of us in confusion, then made a sour face as he realized his situation.
"That was unfair!" he growled. "You know I don't carry money."
"Sorry." London smiled, making a face that begged for forgiveness. "I'll pay."
"You really should carry money with you." I suggested to Tokyo as he walked in the direction of the motel.
*******
The motel was called Hidden Castle, but it looked like anything but a castle. It was just another off the road motel, nothing special about it. It was two story, with close to a thousand rooms. It was obvious almost no one came by. The moment I walked through the door, I felt as though the whole building was abandoned. There seemed to be no one there…but Ms. Darrow said that there was a staff working here.
I took a seat on a nearby chair while London went up to the front desk. Tokyo stood in the middle of the room, and turned his head in all directions to get a good look around. I looked around too. It felt more like the opening area of a restaurant than a motel. Practically nothing special. It was a high bet that almost no one came this way at all. The walls were pure white, with no decorations like pictures or hanging flowerpots. There was a stained glass chandelier attached to the ceiling above us, but that was the only decoration. I relaxed in the chair as London called out for service.
"Service!" London called around the room. "Hello? Is there anyone here? Can we get a room for three please?"
I spied a door clearly labeled in bold yellow letters "Employees Only," and it creaked open noisily. Not one, but five middle aged men stepped out. One of them stood at the desk while the other four went to work cleaning up the room with dust rags and bottles of wood cleaner. The one at the desk smiled at London.
"Can I help you, kid?" he asked. London nodded, fumbling through his wallet.
"Yes please. The three of us would like a room for the night."
"We also need bottled water for the road ahead." Tokyo said, stepping aside from where he was as one of the men came his way with a broom to sweep the floor.
"Sure, sure." The man behind the desk nodded. "No problem. Will you be paying with cash or credit card?"
"Credit card." London smiled, pulling a card out of his wallet. I couldn't see what it was, the back of the card was to me. I had a feeling it was Visa. The deskman scanned it by a cash register while one of the cleaning men walked my way with a cleaning rag.
"How ya doing?" the cleaning man asked, wiping down a nearby decoration table next to me.
"Fine." I answered with a smile.
"That's good." He chuckled, wiping down that table like he was putting his heart and soul into it. He turned his head to me, and our gazes locked. His eyes were stone gray and hard. I almost felt uncomfortable looking at them. "If you don't mind me asking, what are three kids like you doing out here?"
"We're on our way to Frisco." I said simply, shifting around in my seat. He nodded at me, his smile growing just a little bit bigger.
"I see, I see. That's a rather long way."
"Yeah." I chuckled nervously. "But we'll manage."
"I'm Tom." The man introduced, holding out his hand for a friendly shake. "Tom Whark."
"Clara." I said, shaking his hand. His grip wasn't very strong…it was rather light, as though he was inspecting my hand carefully, as though my hand was a small creature. I thought I felt his thumb rub against the back of my hand. I quickly pulled my hand away. Tom stood a little straighter, and looked around the room to the other men.
"All five of us are brothers." He introduced. "There's Sean, Adam, Carl, and the one behind the desk is Roman. We run this motel together."
"And Ms. Darrow?" I wondered, pointing my thumb at the front door.
"Oh, Mom?" Tom chuckled. "She's just a business partner, but she treats us all like our mother used to. I'm glad you got to meet her."
"Here is the key to your room. Room 21B, upstairs on the second floor." Roman said to London, handing him a room key. "Enjoy your stay."
"Thank you kindly." London grinned. He waved the key at Tokyo and me. "Okay, mates! Let's get settled in for the night!" He walked off for the stairs. Tokyo followed him, and I got up from my chair to go follow them as well.
"Nice meeting you, Clara." Tom called to my back. I shivered suddenly. I don't know why, I just shivered. Something just didn't feel right. As the three of us climbed the steps to our room, I decided to bring that up.
"They sure were happy to have us here." I mumbled to London.
"In a remote place where nobody comes by, who wouldn't?" he shrugged.
"I dunno." I doubted. "That one guy was a little too happy."
"Maybe," Tokyo thought out loud as he walked behind me, "they haven't seen a woman in a long time. I've seen men like that back in Japan."
"Were you one of them?" London teased. I held back my laughter and blushed as Tokyo glared over my shoulder and gritted his teeth.
"Well, I'd never!" he called to the Brit.
"Well, you should. It's fun." London retorted with a wink. I couldn't hold it in, I burst out laughing.
*******
Room 21B was rather cozy. Spacious, charming, comfortable…only one thing didn’t meet my approval: two beds for three androids!
"Someone'll have to sleep on the floor." Tokyo suggested. London and I glared at him.
"No way!" we disagreed sharply.
"If you're so set on it," I mumbled, "why don't you sleep on the floor?"
"You're kidding." Tokyo snarled at me.
"Well," London sighed, stretching his arms behind his head, "two of us are gonna haveta share a bed…" Then he glared at me and Tokyo, "…and it won't be you two."
"Why not?!" Tokyo demanded, then realized what London meant and bit his lip. "Oh, I see." I shook my blushing head. It was way too early for Tokyo and me.
"Okay then, I'll take one bed," I planned, "and you two share the other bed."
"Very well." Tokyo agreed.
"Sick!" London disagreed. "I'm not sharing a bed with him!"
"You're outvoted, London."
"Go sleep on the floor!"
"No, you go sleep on the floor!"
"It's either the floor or the bed with me in it!"
"There's no shame of one man sharing a bed with another man."
"Dude, what are you? Gay?"
"No, no, no, no, no!" I shouted at Tokyo as he attempted to unsheathe his sword and chop London to little pieces. I put my hand on the hilt of his sword, and shoved it back in his sheath. "For God's sake, guys, if it'll come down to this, I'll sleep on the floor."
"Uh…" Tokyo gasped.
"Um…" London was about to protest, feeling like a failed gentleman. I glared at him to show that I was serious. He sighed. "Alright, alright, I'll share the bed with Tokyo."
"Thank you." I sighed. "Okay, let's get settled in."
"Certainly." Tokyo agreed, sliding out of his shirt. "I need to wash my hair before I turn in."
"I'll go stock up on our drinks." London suggested, heading for the door. "Oh, and sorry about the 'gay' comment, Tokyo. No offence?"
"None taken." Tokyo shook his head.
"Oh, okay then."
"Alright."
"Are you sure you aren't gay?"
London was chased out of the room and down the hall.
"He has a girlfriend!" I shouted after them. I sighed and shook my head.
No offence to anyone out there, but London has this fear of gay people. I guess he had an unpleasant experience with one once, I'm not exactly sure.
But I hoped that fear wouldn't get us in trouble at San Francisco…
*******
Tokyo went to go take a shower, London left to buy more drinks for our food supply, leaving me alone in the room. Since it was late, and I was getting sleepy, I changed into my pajamas and settled into my bed.
I guess I fell asleep or something, because what happened next was definantly a dream. I woke up, hearing the door creek open. I looked up to see who it was and I froze in fear. Silhouetted in the doorway was a very evil man.
"No…" I gasped. "Ghost! It can't be!" Draped in Snake robes he advanced towards me and drew one of his swords. "No!" I screamed, shaking my head in denial. "This can't be happening!" Suddenly, Ghost lunged foreword, baring his fangs and hissing like a jungle cat on the hunt. I screamed!
Suddenly, my face stung in pain, and my eyes snapped open. Instead of Ghost by my bed, I saw Tokyo slapping me awake.
"Paris, wake up!" he commanded. "You're having a nightmare! Wake up!"
"Oh God!" I sobbed, grabbed his shirt and pulled him close to me. "Oh my God…oh my God…"
"Are you alright?" he asked flatly. I slowly got a hold of myself, and laid my head on his shoulder.
"Forget about it." I insisted with a sigh. "It was just a stupid dream."
"Stupid enough to make you scream in your sleep?" he wondered. I sighed again, and held him closer to me. He sat on the bed and pressed me against his chest. "Don’t worry, it was just a dream. Dreams can't hurt you."
"Yeah." I moaned. "I guess you're right."
"Try to go back to sleep." Tokyo advised, leaning me back onto the bed.
"Where's London?" I wondered in worry as Tokyo tucked me back into bed. "Izze alright?"
"He's taking forever in the pub downstairs." Tokyo answered, looking out the room window. I looked too. It was very dark outside. "I'll go get him. Get some sleep." He walked out of the room, turned off the lights, and softly closed the door. I couldn't sleep, so I rolled on my side and snuggled into the pillow. Ghost was a real threat, and he could have been following us to San Francisco. I know that was the plan…
…but what if we died before we reached the city?
A few minutes later, Tokyo opened the door, carrying London over his shoulder into the room. London was making a total jackass of himself, yodeling "My Girl" in some accent I couldn't recognize in-between drunken hiccups.
"Ahh…hic!…guesssss…yuuuuuued, hic!, say! Wot caan…hic!…make miiii…hic!, feel this whaaaaay! Myyyyyy Geeeeeerl! Hic!"
"Oh my God!" I gasped, sitting up. Suddenly, London stopped singing and dropped the drunkard act.
"Okay, Tokyo, you can put me down now." He requested. Tokyo flung the Brit off his shoulder and onto the other bed. "Whoo! That was weird."
"And obnoxious too!" I cried.
"You were right about those guys, Clara." London reported. "They're really suspicious. They tried to get me drunk and make me talk about myself. Good thing I'm an android cause we can't get drunk. But, oh my God…20 beers, 6 shots of vodka, 3 bottles of whiskey, and a cup of fruit punch…if I was a human, I'd have been dead after the beer treatment."
Tokyo took a whiff of London's breath and was knocked over on my bed holding his nose. That was a four-foot jump backward. That was really bad.
"It's very fortunate," Tokyo nodded, coughing, "that you are not a human, London."
"Why do they want to know about you?" I asked London."
"Not just me, but all three of us. I'm not sure exactly why…" he shrugged, then slyly smirked, "but the word 'dragonoid' crept into the conversation."
"Hmmm…" I thought, staring down at my blue bed sheets. "Are they dragonoids?"
"I don't think so." London shook his head. "And I didn't mention who or what I was. They only know me by my alias, Lance Freeman. This is getting too weird for me. What do the dragonoids want with a remote place like this?"
"Let's just drop this." Tokyo suggested, pulling back the covers to his bed. "We'll be gone in a few hours, and it won't matter. Let's go to sleep." He started to take his shoes off while London unstrapped his belt and sword sheath.
"Oh, there's another thing I found out." London asked as he pulled back the cover to his side of the bed. "This motel is haunted."
"Haunted?" I mumbled, unimpressed.
"Yep." London nodded. "Want a little bedtime story?"
"No." Tokyo sharply ordered. He was ignored.
"A lot of people died here in a fire, and their ghosts wander around making noises, trashing rooms, making walls bleed…one ghost set Roman on fire once."
"Suuuuuuure." I doubted, laying back down in my pillow.
"I know." London sighed. "Nothing spectacular, just a bunch of crap…and we'll be outta here in just a few hours, so it won't matter. Right, Tokyo?"
"Go to sleep, London." Tokyo growled, turning off the light.
"Alright, alright. Good show. G'night."
Then, Tokyo walked over to my bed, and gave me a long, sweet, passionate kiss. I smiled at him as our lips parted.
"Good night, my love." I whispered to him.
"Sleep well." He wished, giving my forehead a quick kiss before returning to his bed.
"Do I get a kiss goodnight too, my love?" London mocked on the other side of the room.
"Kiss this." I heard Tokyo growl.
POW!
"Ow!"
"Go to sleep!"
"Alriiiiiiight! Jesus Christ, that hurt…"
*******
I had a very rude awakening two hours later. Something dripped on my face, and started bugging me. I wiped my face, and sat up. It felt like water, but it seemed thicker than that, like paint. My lips were chapped, so I ran my tongue over them quickly.
I tasted blood…
I looked at my hand to see a dark substance on the palm, looking like watery, sticky goo. I turned on the light, and my fear was confirmed.
"Blood?"
Then, I felt something drip on my nose from above. I tilted my head up, and saw a small pool of blood on the ceiling dripping down on me. Disgusted, I climbed out of the bed, trying to wipe off the blood on my face with the sheets. After staining a small part of the blue sheets a dull bruise color, I looked up at the ceiling, and the pool of blood was gone.
"Hey…" Tokyo moaned sleepily, "…turn the light off." He reached a hand out to the switch and turned the light off. He then went back to sleep as I wondered what was going on. I looked at the clock by the bedstand.
11:06.
I walked to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. Blood was all over my face and hands. So, I washed them off in the sink.
This is weird. I thought as I dried off on a towel. I mean, some motels have water leaks, but…oh God, that stupid ghost stuff?! It can't be. It's all just a bunch of crap. There's no such things as ghosts…
"Clara…"
Someone called my name…and that someone sounded like Ghost. I looked in the mirror, and I saw him standing behind me with his rifle pointed at my head. I spun around…
…and there was no one there. My heart was pounding, and my breath was rapid. I quickly calmed down and shook my head to clear away my sleepiness.
What the hell is going on here?
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
That was London screaming!
I snapped my head around to look through the doorway. London was sitting up in bed, clutching the covers up to his chin, and chattering his teeth. Tokyo's back was to me, and he looked asleep.
"London?" I quietly called. London looked at me with large, frightened eyes.
"Oh, thank God." He sighed, but didn't relax. "Clara, could you keep that light on please?"
"Why? What's wrong?!"
"Well…" London hesitated. "…I, uh…I-I-I-I hate the dark."
"You're afraid of the dark?" I interrogated in surprise. Suddenly, the supposed sleeping Tokyo burst out laughing, rolling from his side to his back.
"You're afraid of the dark?!" Tokyo cackled hard, slapping his forehead with his hand. He made it look like the funniest thing he had ever heard. London glared at him.
"You're afraid of spiders!" he retaliated. Tokyo instantly stopped laughing and glared at London.
"How did you find out?!" he snapped out. Then he clamped his hands over his mouth, and corrected himself. "I mean how dare you make such accusations!"
I leaned on the doorway of the bathroom and sighed.
None of us were going to get any sleep.
Especially me.
*******
Just as I was falling asleep in my bed, the ground started to rumble and shake.
"Oh great." I moaned. "A Californian earthquake." Following proper earthquake procedure, I laid on my stomach and covered my neck with my hands as the room shook violently.
Then I heard a loud roar, and the shaking stopped. I sat up in my bed in alarm. I knew that roar anywhere: it was a dragonoid roar. There was a dragonoid in the building. I looked over at Tokyo and London, and they appeared to be fast asleep. Since London was finally sleeping, the first thing I did when I got up from the bed was turn off the light in the bathroom. Then, I slipped my trench coat over my PJs then grabbed my sword.
I went down the hall, and towards the stairs. The motel didn't have an elevator, so that was a downer. I wandered down to the dark and empty lobby, and looked around. Not a soul in sight.
I put my thumb and pointing finger in my mouth and whistled loud enough for the sound to bounce down the halls.
"HEEEEEEEEY!" I yelled. I waited for a moment for a response.
Nothing.
"Hey dragonoid!" I yelled again. "Get out here you fat, four legged python! You think I didn't hear you making noise down here?! Come out!"
Still nothing.
"If you don't come out, then I'll come find you!" I threatened, heading for the other side of the motel. "And it won't be pretty when I do!"
Suddenly, the lobby desk exploded into splintery flames. I jumped and yelped in surprise.
How the hell did that happen?
I unsheathed my sword, and pressed my back to the wall.
The dragonoid must be a fire breather. I better stay on my guard.
Then, I felt something wet on my back. I stepped away from the wall and looked. I saw a big pool of blood where my back was.
Oh no! Am I bleeding? No, that can't be it. I'm not damaged…
Then, I remembered London's earlier words…
"…Ghosts wander around making noises, trashing rooms, making the walls bleed…one ghost set Roman on fire."
The blood on the ceiling and walls…the burning reception desk…the "earthquake"…the dragonoid roar…
That was all ghosts?
"This is getting too creepy." I said to myself. "Quit thinking about ghosts! There's a dragonoid in here, and I’m going to find it!"
"Clara?"
I turned to the Employee's Only door. It was partly open, and on the other side of the door was Ms. Darrow's peeking face.
"Ms. Darrow?" I asked softly.
"Clara!" she cried desperately in fear and confusion. "You've got to help me! Please!" Suddenly, a male hand clamped over her mouth and pulled her away from the door.
I gulped and hesitated. What was beyond that door? The dragonoid? More ghosts? Some of the Whark brother's porno magazines? Yeah, I was too scared to go on. I hesitated for a while.
"Something's telling me not to go in there…" I whimpered, shaking so bad that my sword was quivering in my hands.
Suddenly, the floor of the lobby caught on fire. I screamed, jumping through the Employee's Only door and falling down a long flight of stairs. I hit my head on a very hard floor, and everything went black.
*******
I woke up feeling like my wrists and ankles were strapped onto a rack. I opened my eyes, looked around, and surprise surprise…
"Hey! What the hell gives?! Get me off this thing!"
God, I hate it when I'm right…
"Good evening." A male voice purred. Walking before me was Tom Whark, dressed in a strange ceremonial shirt and pants striped in red and black. "Thanks for 'dropping' in, Miss Toe-moe."
"Hardy-har-har." I growled. "And the names Toe-moe-ay! There's an 'Ay' sound at the end!"
"I've never been good with names." Tom admitted with an evil smile. I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Why are you holding me prisoner, Tom?" I wondered. "And where's Ms. Darrow?!"
"Mom? Well, the answer to your first question is right over there." Tom pointed to my right. I turned my head in that direction and saw a barred off doorway in the wall. Encaged in the room on the other side of the doorway, leashed with a heavy-duty chain was one of the biggest dragonoids I had ever seen. It must have been the size of a bus!
"That ugly brute doesn't answer any questions I have…" I turned an evil eye at Tom. "…lizard scum."
"Sorry." Tom laughed. "I'm human…"
"Huh?"
Then, he pointed my sword at my chest. He had disarmed me while I was out cold.
"…but you're not. I heard you're a robot, and this really disappointed us. You see, the master hasn't eaten in months."
At mentioning, the dragonoid turned his massive head towards us and pounded his snout at the bars. It was a WH dragonoid, the four-legged type, with a head and jaw big enough to swallow me whole. His skin was very unique: deep blue with neon red stripes and gold yellow spots. His very noticeable teeth were a very unhealthy shade of pastel yellow. He was certainly the most unique one I had ever seen.
"Does your master have a name?" I wondered.
"No. He doesn't speak. But some of our customers were traveling dragonoids, and they kept us up to date of civilization and dragon slayers. That's how we found out about you."
"FEED ME!" the dragonoid roared, bashing against the bars, making the whole building shake. Well, that explained the "earthquake…"
"Doesn't speak, eh?" I scrutinized.
"What I meant was…" Tom nervously mumbled, "…those are the only words he can say."
"So if you're human, and he's a dragonoid, then why are you and your brothers the dominant ones in this case?"
"The answer to that begins ten years ago when my mother and brothers bought this motel and began our business. We discovered this strange chamber, and in that cage was a statue of a dragon chained like a dog in a doghouse. Our mother told us never to go near the statue, for it was an evil spirit. We obeyed that order until one day, five years ago.
"One day, the statue came alive and ate our mother. Every week after that he would call out 'feed me' and he would scream and bawl, and blast fire from his mouth. So, to keep him happy, and to keep ourselves alive, we fed the dragonoid our customers. He got food, and we kept the money our guests paid us."
"You cruel, heartless man!" I shouted, trying to struggle against my shackles. "How could you do that to innocent people?!"
"Not just people." Tom grinned. "He snacks on stray animals and birds, or pets the guests bring with them. He enjoys feasting on other dragonoids too. I don't think the master likes the taste of a hard, metal robot." Suddenly, he pressed his body to mine and put his hands on my breasts. "But I think I'll give it a try."
"What the hell do you mean by that?!" I demanded as he leaned his face next to mine. "Get your hands off m…" He hushed me up by kissing me hard on the lips. It didn't feel right. I wanted him to stop and let me go. But I couldn't fight back; my arms and legs were useless.
No…I mentally panicked. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Somebody help me!
My prayers were immediately answered.
"Get your lips off my girlfriend," my Tokyo threatened Tom, "or I'll slice them off your face and stuff them down your throat."
"Tokyo!" I tried to cry out, but Tom was still kissing me. He was ignoring Tokyo and trying to reach up my pajamas. Then, I heard the familiar sound of a blade stabbing into flesh, and Tom's hands went limp on my body. Tokyo pulled the man off me and pulled his sword out of Tom's back.
"Oh, thank God." I sighed in relief. Tokyo flung the dead body aside and began undoing my binds.
"I take it he didn’t hurt you." That was his way of asking if I was alright.
"No, I'm fine. But he could have hurt me. Thank you, Tokyo."
"Of course. No one may kiss you except for me." Then he looked over his shoulder. "London!"
"Found Mom!" London called from the other side of the room.
"Get her out of here! Watch for the other four men!"
"Right on!"
As I jumped free of the rack, I saw London rushing a hysterical Ms. Darrow up the stairs. The dragonoid didn't like watching his prey escape.
"FEED ME!" he demanded, trying to chew away his bars. Tokyo and I walked up to the bars and pointed our swords at the dragonoid behind them.
"Time to take out the trash!" I suggested.
"Agreed." Tokyo nodded. The dragonoid raised its head and blasted fire at us through his mouth. Tokyo and I jumped up and out of the way and landed back on the ground when the flames died down.
"So that's where all those fires came from!" I discovered. "So then all that supposed ghost stuff was the work of this guy!"
"There they are!" I heard someone shout from the top of the stairs. Tokyo and I looked up to see the other four brothers running down to us. One of them had a pistol, I think it was Sean. Roman leapt impressively high from the stairway towards Tokyo. Tokyo took a few seconds from impact to sheathe his sword then hit Roman in the stomach with a flat hand and swung him into a wall. Sean shot at me, but I let all six bullets hit me. I bled, but it didn't hurt; it felt like getting pinched. Carl jumped at me with two lead pipes and swung them at me. I dodged each swing easily, and chopped the pipes in half with one stroke of the sword. He started to retreat, but the caged dragonoid blew another breath of fire and Carl was engulfed in flames.
"Finish him, Paris!" Tokyo ordered, locked in hand-to-hand combat with Adam. I hesitated. I couldn't move towards the Carl in flames. I didn't want to kill him. I was made to kill dragonoids, not people. It didn't feel right. "PARIS!" Tokyo yelled at me as Adam began to push him back towards the dragonoid. The dragonoid had begun ripping away the bars with his jaws one by one. Tokyo was in serious trouble!
"I…can't…" I tried to say.
"Stop wasting time!" Tokyo screamed, getting pushed closer to the escaping dragonoid. "Kill him!"
Suddenly, the dragonoid had plucked the last of the bars away, and he headed towards Tokyo and Adam. It reached its neck over to them.
"Tokyo!" I screamed. He looked behind him to see the dragonoid open its jaws and lunge his head foreword…
*******
…and chomp his teeth over Adam! The dragonoid completely ignored Tokyo, and swallowed the traitorous human in three bites.
"FEED ME!" the dragonoid called with a roar. It made a mad dash for the enflamed Carl I was supposed to kill, but the chain leash restrained it. Meanwhile, Sean helped Roman to his feet and scampered to the stairs. However, waiting for them at the top was the rescue calvery!
"I don't think so, boys." London said with a very evil grin. Then, he unsheathed his sword, and flung it hard. "It's dinner time, baby!" The sword sliced through the chain leash, and the dragonoid was freed. It roared in triumph as it raced towards Roman and Sean.
"Lance Freeman!" Roman shouted in anger. "You'll die for this!"
" 'Fraid not." London grinned as he gripped the edges of the doorway. "You guys will be doing the dying." Then, he lifted his feet up and kicked them both down the stairs. The dragonoid caught Sean in its mouth and began chewing. I felt so sick, so I covered my eyes and looked away. I heard Roman shouting over and over, "No! No! No! NOOOOO!" before he screamed as the dragonoid chewed on him. Except for the dragonoid's soft growls, the room was quiet.
"I don't get it." I heard Tokyo murmur.
"Hey Clara!" I heard London call as he ran to me. "Are you alright?"
"Is it over?" I whimpered.
"Yeah." He answered, putting a hand on my shoulder. "It's all over."
"I'm starving!" I heard a feminine voice cry out as the dragonoid walked towards the smoldering body of Carl. I opened my eyes to see the dragonoid sniffing at the body. "Mmmm! Barbecue!"
"He can talk?!" I gasped. The dragonoid looked at me.
"I beg your pardon?!" the voice growled in its throat.
"Uh, Clara?" London blinked at me. "That's a girl dragonoid."
"It is?!" I exclaimed, looking at London in shock.
"Yeah, can't you tell?"
I blinked a few times, then walked up to the dragonoid as she finished eating.
"Uh, excuse me, miss? Why didn't you eat us? We're the androids who kill dragonoids."
"I have no taste for metal." She answered, licking her lips. "Besides, those boys had me locked up here for years. If you were me, would you eat them too?"
I chuckled nervously before I began asking any relevant questions.
"And you were the one who made the building shake and started the fires?"
"Yes."
"Okay, I was just wondering. I thought that ghost crap was real for a moment…"
"Forget about it." Tokyo dropped the subject. "Let's get out of here. I've had enough of this place, and London got the bikes ready to go."
"Here's the deal, honey." London struck with the dragonoid as we headed for the stairway out. "To thank you for saving us, we'll let you go."
"For letting me go," she smiled, "I'll forget I ever saw the three of you."
"Alright!" I cheered. "Thank you, miss…uh…"
"Stone." She introduced herself. "And you're welcome, Slayer."
"Don't let us catch you causing trouble, baby." London warned playfully. Stone chuckled in charm.
"You'll have to catch me first, robot."
"Oh my God!" Tokyo cried out in shock. London, Stone, and I looked through the doorway to the lobby. The walls and ceiling of the lobby was dripping gobs of thick, scarlet blood. I looked up at Stone.
"How are you doing that?!" I screamed at her in panic.
"I'm not doing that!" she screamed back in fear. We all screamed.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
The four of us ran through the lobby and out of the motel. Stone headed for the horizon, bidding us farewell as we got on our bikes. We drove out about a half a mile before we realized we were still on park.
And so concluded that adventure. We had a lot more adventures on the road, but I'll tell you about them later.
Eventually, the three of us reached San Francisco. And so our troubles began…
"Troubles?" Sounds like fun!
Clara here! Did you like my ghost story? Well, speaking of ghosts, the android named Ghost followed us to San Francisco…or did he? We find a lot of trouble in the most famous city in the world, mostly dragonoid trouble. What kind of other "troubles" could we possibly get into? You'll have to read the next chapter of BOTS coming soon!
See ya there!
