Once upon a time, long ago in the early days of Middle Earth, there lived a young elf named Cimorene.  Born fifty years before the Witch King invaded Arnor in the Third Age of Middle Earth, Cimorene's life would forever be beseiged by trials and tribulations.  She was a member of the Balcor family, a proud Elven family of good descent and nature.  She lived in the Gray Havens, the last place on Middle Earth elves who sail to the West see.  She grew up with her brother, Belegar, who was just fifty years older than she, which is practically nothing to elves, who are long-lived indeed.

She and Belegar lived peacefully with their parents until Cimorene was about 50 years old.  Still a young child then, she was unable to fight the Witch King when he invaded her family's land.  Her brother fought bravely against the evil, helping to repel it from their green shores.  She saw the men of Gondor appear for the first time in this city, and watched as Belegar announced that he was leaving the safety of the Gray Havens to seek out his fortune in the world with the men of Gondor.  Cimorene was devasted, having done everything in her life with her brother.  She begged him not to go, or at least to take her with him, but to no avail.  Belegar set out to find his own destiny, and Cimorene watched him ride away with tears in her eyes.

Life returned to normal in the Gray Havens after Belegar's departure.  Cimorene grew to be the perfect young elf, spending much of her free time learning to use various weapons from the guards, and learning dabblings of magic from Cirdan, the great Elder who ruled over the Gray Havens.  Before long, she was a full-fledged magician, as well as an accomplished fighter, and eager to test her new abilities.

However, this time in her life held one great tragedy.  Cimorene had long been admired by Melendar, a very powerful Elder elf.  He found himself falling in love with her, and asked her to accompany him to the West, where they could live in peace together forever.  Cimorene, however, refused adamantly, vowing never to leave Middle Earth without her brother.  Melendar, furious at being rejected, kidnapped Cimorene and attempted to force her to go into the West.  She escaped him by hitting him over the head with an oar and swimming back to shore.  Melendar never quite forgave her and swore that if he couldn't have her, no one could.  He vanished soon after and never returned.

Not long after Melendar disappeared, a messenger from the King of the Wood Elves of Mirkwood arrived.  He asked that someone from the Balcor family come to his kingdom and accompany a certain lady of the family home to the Gray Havens, for she wished to go West.  Since Cimorene's father was a great friend of the king, he asked Cimorene to lead a host of guards into Mirkwood and bring the lady home.  She agreed, and her adventure began.

It was a fairly easy journey to begin with.  The Dark Lord Sauron was no more, and the peoples of Middle Earth were at peace.  However, peace and harmony are not friends of the Orcs and Goblins of the land.  South of the Misty Mountains, near Isengard, realm of the White Wizard known as Saruman, Cimorene's party was ambushed, and one of her guards was grievously injured.  Knowing nothing of healing, Cimorene and her party chance the Wizard's anger by coming to call.  Annoyed at the interruption at first, Saruman quickly fell victim to the eager elf's pleas and healed her guard.  She begged him to take her on as an apprentice, and he grudgingly allowed her to stay on for a further month to study with him.  She sent her party along to Mirkwood, with orders that if she would be along eventually.

Saruman taught her well in that first month, mastering healing and the tongues of beasts of the land.  She quickly showed him that she was magically gifted, and he urged her to remain for a further year.  She sent a message to Mirkwood for her party to go along without her, and to inform her family of her decision.  She then trained diligently under Saruman, and was inducted into the Order of Wizards.  Saruman dubbed her Cimorene the Violet before sending her on his way with his best wishes.

She continued on to Mirkwood and studied under Thrandiul, the King of Mirkwood for a few months before returning home to study even more under Cirdan, who taught her spells to protect herself in the wilds, as he already knew her destiny would take her away from the Gray Havens again.

Sure enough, the Dark Lord Sauron soon returned to power, and began to amass an army to take over Middle Earth.  Feeling an overpowering urge to fight against this tyrranical evil, Cimorene journeyed east to Gondor, where she reunited with her brother, Belegar, who was one of the great Captains of Gondor.  Together they helped to hold back the forces of Sauron in Middle Earth, and fought together side-by-side.

After the battle, Cimorene learned that her former mentor, Saruman, had betrayed Middle Earth, and had been punished for his crime.  Devastated that the man she admired more than anyone else save her brother had turned evil, Cimorene went to Minas Tirith and laid her violet robes and shining staff in the Great Vaults, proclaiming that she would no longer be a wizard, and would live the remainder of her life as a magician.

Brother and Sister parted soon after the Second War of the Ring, Belegar returning to Gondor and Cimorene to her family in the Gray Havens.  Life returned to normal for her, until her parents announced that they were sailing to the Undying Lands of the West.  They bid her to go and find Belegar, and to bring him home so that they might see him once last time.  Again Cimorene set out, meeting young Marreant along the way.  Marreant was a young Man, a ranger-in-training, and he aided her and Belegar on their travels.

After finding Belegar, the three, who had become good friends by now, journeyed back to the Gray Havens.  After a tearful farewell, Belegar remained in the Gray Havens, and it seems that fate was going to take advantage of that.

A ship from the Undying Lands appeared in the harbor, and it was carrying with it a passenger.  A tall man, in flowing red robes, sought out the Balcor siblings and young Marreant, and announced himself to be Oromic the Red, one of the original five great wizards of old.  He claimed to be here to remove the great wizards from Middle Earth so that it could grow without their influence.  Perplexed, yet unable to refuse a higher power's orders, Cimorene agreed to help however she could.  She, her brother, and young Marreant set forth to seek out the fabled Staff of Gandalf the Gray, which had been lost in the Mines of Moria during the legendary journey of Frodo Baggins, the Ringbearer.

On their travels they were constantly beseiged by Melendar and his band of followers, called the Black Diamond group.  The Black Diamonds wanted nothing more than to have the elves returned to power in Middle Earth and make Men as a supplanted race.  Eventually, they reached the Mines of Moria, and, with Melendar's help, retrieved the Staff and headed for Gondor.  Melendar stayed on with them, especially when they were forced to make a small stop in a city of Rohan, ruled by Justinian.  A great friend of Cimorene and Marreant, Justinian had also travelled through the Mines with the party and was now hoping Melendar would forge him a sword of great power.

As they rested in Justinian's city, the terrible truth about Cimorene and Belegar's family unraveled.  Their ancestors had taken it upon themselves to destroy the Rings of Power, forged with the hands of Elves so many years ago.  Belegar became the Bearer of one of the Nine Rings, and its own wanted it back badly.  The Nazgul now stalked Belegar, and one night tried to lay seige to the castle.  Cimorene and the others rode forth to do battle with this monster, and after a long battle, they smote him upon thier blades.

This battle proved to be a spearhead from the Valar, for Cimorene felt the evil rising again in Middle Earth.  After the battle, her blue eyes had suddenly shifted to violet, and her long blonde hair was now showing strands of violet in its tresses.  Her power surging through her veins again, Cimorene tried to hide her changes from the rest of the party until they reached Minas Tirith.  Melendar refused to go into the city, instead claiming that his new master required him to make something of power for him.  Cimorene tried to beg him not to go, for she had become rather fond of him in their travels, but his greed eventually won out.  In the end, he promised her that he would not make the evil thing, and would refuse.  After a longing look at her, he rode off into the wilds, and Cimorene would never see him the same again.

Once inside Minas Tirith, Cimorene immedietely took the Staff of Gandalf to Oromic the Red, who was waiting for her.  With him was Ulrich the Green, whom Cimorene and Marreant had met briefly on their journey.  Oromic then requested that she perform another task for him, one of the utmost importance.  Fearing to disobey her elder, she agreed.  Oromic then bid her to go into the East and seek out the two Blue wizards, Pallando and Liun Ruth.  She agreed, and disappeared into the Great Vault.  She emerged into the throne room of Eldarian, son of Ellesar, garbed in her shining violet robes and carrying her black iron staff.   She had hung several feathers around the tip, and a huge violet stone adorned it.  Her hair is now completely tinged violet, and her eyes are tricolored lenses of purples.  Cimorene the Violet had been reborn.
