| Kayla and Lance walked back into the house to find it empty. Lance was kind of oblivious to this because he was still stuck on the idea that Kayla might like Justin more than a friend. He kept getting pangs of jelousy when he thought about him kissing her. "Would she let him? I know for sure that Justin knows I like Kayla, but does Kayla have feelings for Justin," Lance thought as he looked down at her. Little did he know, the only reason Kayla acted the way she did toward Justin is because she liked Lance and Justin was just a friend. She couldn't be herself around Lance because that would make him feel the way everyone at school feels about me."What *am* I thinking? Lance is a sweet and caring guy who could have any girl that he wanted. Like he would pick me HA!" "Lancee?!? Are you there?" Kayla asked as she looked at his face. He was kinda staring into space. "Huh, what? Oh sorry. Where is everyone?" In the distance you could hear the sound of a basketball and guys running around. "Maybe they are in the backyard? I'll um.. call my sister now um... if you want. I'll just wait outside for her um.... to come." "Kayla I thought I told you, you didn't have to leave? Now why do you still think we want you to leave. Unless you don't want to and your uncomfortable. Umm.. yeah." "Lance.. I can't stay here. I just met you and the rest of the guys. And I understand that you said what you did ouside because I was crying, but I am okay now, I promise. I really don't mind just calling my sisters. I'll leave you all alone." "Kayla, if you feel like your intruding, let me tell you, on behalf of myself and the rest of the guys, your not. We don't get a lot of time to spend with girls our age. We all like you and that is the truth, *for the third time*. You won't be imposing because we are all sleeping on the floor. No beds in a new house you know. Come on, it will be fun. Kinda like a sleep-over," Lance said with enthusiasum as he finished. Kayla had to laugh at him for his excitement. She nodded her head and said, "Oh all right, but if I bother you or you want me to leave I will. I won't over react." "Hey did I hear the word sleep-over?!? Joey asked as he walked into the room. "I just love sleep-overs. YAY! So.. who's sleeping over. Is it you Kayla? Huh-HUh!" "Yes Joey it is Kayla, now quit it and let go of her arm. NOW!" At that moment Kayla burst out laughing. She couldn't hold it in anymore. Joey was acting like such a little kid. And then Lance acting like he was Joey's father! Gosh it was just a sight to see. She had tears in her eyes from laughing so hard. Lance looked over at Kayla when she started to laugh. The look on her face made his heart constrict. She looked absolutely beautiful. Her dark green eyes lit up as she laughed and the tears formed. He also felt a pang of jelousy.*He* wanted to make her smile. Not Joey. Kayla looked over at Lance as she wiped her eyes. He had this look on his face that was just breath-taking. The rest of the guy's walked in and Lance told all of them the plan. They all seem pretty thrilled to have a guest and Kayla was pretty much at ease. They all played basketball together. It was Justin, Kayla, J.C. against Joey, Lance and Chris. (J.C. and Kayla did make up by the way) Kayla was kind of dissapoined that she wasn't on Lance's team. But she put that out of her mind and just had fun the whole night. When they were done playing basketball they all went into the living room.Everyone sat on the couches and Kayla chose to sit on the floor. "Hey Kay, if we sing you a song will you sing with us. Please!" Justin asked innocently. "Um.. well.. if you all really want to. I told you already that I loved music, but I don't think I'm too good." "Oh well! It'll be fun! Choose your favorite song," J.C. said with a smile. " Um.. i know most of the words to I Drive Myself Crazy. Ya'll can sing that!" "Cool. One. Two. Three. "Lying in your arms, so close together Didn't know just what I had. Now I toss and turn, Cause I'm without you How I'm missing you so bad Where was my head, Where was my heart Now I cry alone in the dark. |
| Kayla listened to Chris sing and when the chorus came she chose to join in. I lie awake I drive myself crazy Drive myself crazy Thinking of you Made a mistake When I let you go baby I drive myself crazy Wanting you the way I do (Wanting you the way I do) Throughout the chorus Lance stared at Kayla. He was sitting next to her and he could hear her the best. She had a really good voice! When the chorus ended and Justin started to sing she stopped herself and let him sing his part. When Justin started singing Kayla looked over at Lance. He was staring at her. Kayla knew Lance heard her sing at started to blush. She looked down at her lap and then back at Lance. He smiled at her and winked. Her heart was going so fast she didn't even know if she smiled back. She continued to sing through the rest of the chorus' during that song till it ended. "Wow that sounded awsome. You have a wonderful voice girly! Whatchyoutalkinabout "I don't have that good of a voice," Chris said mimicing Kayla. She started to Laugh and so did everyone else. They all sat around talking and J.C. looked like he was going to fall asleep. It was 1:30am after all. He went into his room to change and so did everyone else. As Lance was leaving he looked over at Kayla. She was sitting on the couch petting Busta. She looked up at him as if sencing he was there. "Hey, how come you didn't change," Kayla asked as she put Busta on her lap. "I was just about to when I saw you sitting here. Is there something wrong Kayla?" "No not at all. It's just that I really don't have anything to change into. Do you... um have a t-shirt and shorts that I could sleep in? If you don't mind and all." "Yeah of course I do. You should have just asked! I would let a pretty girl like you wear my clothes any day," Lance said smiling. He liked the way her eyes sparkled and she blushed at what he said. He went into his room and gave her an old green NIKE shirt and a pair of green and blue plaid flannel pants. "The bathroom is up-stairs and the third door to the left. Kayla went into the bathroom and changed into Lance's clothes. She combed her hair and put it into a messy bun on top of her head so it wouldn't scratch her neck all night. She looked into the mirror and smiled. "Man his clothes smell soo good! I just wanna keep these and save them for the memories" Kayla thought smiling some more. She walked down the stairs and everyone stared at her. "Ohhh, Kayla's wearing Poo-foo's clothes now! I wonder what that means!" Joey said sarcastically winking at both Kayla and Lance, who were blushing furiously! Lance looked up at that comment and practically dropped his jaw. She looked so good in his clothes! "What I wouldn't do to see her in my t-shirts every morning. It just looks soo, so right! What *am* I thinking! I met her like 12 hours ago. But it's just so natural.." Lance thought as she walked down the stairs. "Ok, Joey. Calm down now and kindly SHUT-UP!" Lance said threw his teeth. Kayla sat down on the floor where she originally sat and looked around her. J.C. reading her mind stated: "We are watching a movie but Dummy over here keeps rejecting what we choose. Why don't we let you choose. The movies are in that box over there." "Umm... how about, um...Dirty Dancing?!? I love this movie!" "Yeah sure! Haven't seen this one in what.. two weeks! Curly over there constantly chooses it on movie nights!" "You go girl! This movie rocks! Yea!!" Justin said as he reached down and gave Kayla a high-five. They all sat down and watched the movie. Kayla leaned up against the couch and then suddely realized that Lance was sitting right above her. She didn't know what to do. "Do I just stay here? I can't move, there is no- where else to sit! Darn!" Kayla thought. Then all of a sudden something hit her in the back of the head. "What?" "Here get comfy! Do you want to sleep on the couch or take the floor? Your choice?" Lance asked as he handed her a pillow and a blanket. "I'll take the floor. I don't mind it!" They all got settled and watched the movie. Kayla stayed up for half of it. She was soo tired from all the tears of today and of all the commotion. As she started to fall asleep she looked up at Lance who had fallen asleep, like,10 minutes earlier. He looked so peaceful and Kayla couldn't help but smile. She finally fell asleep with a smile on her face. Lance on the other hand wasn't exactly asleep. He didn't see her smile at him, but when he heard her sigh, he looked down at her and smiled. He was sure glad he chose this spot. "She looks so beautiful. When her eyes are closed, you can't see all the hurt in her eyes! If only I could make her look like that always," Lance thought as he closed his eyes for the last time that night. He, too, had a smile on his face as he slept. Before he fell asleep he vowed to make all Kayla's bad memories be replaced with fun times. |
