| Eeeek!! Kayla sat straight up in her bed and then immediatly layed back down She was really getting sick and tired of the constant pain in her head. And that noise didn't help either. "What a wonderful way to wake up in the morning!" Kayla thought as she layed in her bed hoping the pounding in her head would go away. "Justin, shut up!! Your gonna wake up Kayla." Kayla was pretty sure the J.C. had said that. She just smiled thinking of what was going on out side of the room she was in. Those guys were pretty crazy when she was around, she really wondered how they acted on their own. Just then, the door opened scaring Kayla making her jump a little. "Hey there. Whats going on outside?" Kayla asked snuggling down into the soft down covers. Lance was surprised to see Kayla up, but then again the whole neighborhood was probably up from Justin screaming. Lances eyes softened and he smiled back at her. Kayla looked about 12 years old in the big bed and puffy blankets. The dog *NSYNCA was under one of her arms and the other arm was now rubbing her eyes. " Lance? Are you okay?" Chapter 16 "Oh sorry, yeah I'm fine. I should be asking you the same thing. How do you feel this morn-well actually afternoon. It's 12:30 now. " "It is?? Wow. I never sleep this late. I prolly would have slept later too, if Justin didn't scream. What happend anyway??" "Your dog woke him up. I think that was the fastest I'v ever seen him get out of bed." Kayla smiled at that, and the pounding in her head, started again. She winced, and Lance ,who had been staring at her smile noticed it. "Do you need your medicine Kayla? You should have told me when I first came up here." "Well you kinda distracted me. But, now I kinda need it. Would you mind?" "Nope. Be right back." Lance left the room and went into the kitchen to ger her prescription. The guys were all going to go up there with him, but Lance told them she had a headache. The guys knew Lance just wanted to be the only one to take care of her. They all thought it was pretty funny the way Kayla and Lance acted around each other. As Lance walked up the stairs Joey just shook his head and smiled. "Guys, I think we all should go shopping for Johnny's birthday. His party is in 2 weeks and then we can tell Lance and Kayla just to stay here. Then they can have the whole house to themselves." Joeys said to the other 3 guys sitting at the kitchen table with him. "Yeah thats cool, but don't you think that Lance would wanna go? " Chris said looking up from his plate of eggs. He had a slightly confused look on his face. "Um Chris?? Are you oblivious to Lance and Kayla's little flirting fest they have been having? If we leave them here, they have the whole day to warm up to each other. Duh! We all know Lance and how he's pretty much mister shy if he don't know how the girl feels 'bout him. I can almost be sure Kayla is the same way, or even worse. " JC explained slowly to Chris. "I see! I see said the deaf man!! Let's go and get ready now."" "Ain't it, I see, I see said the blind man?" Justin said with his eye brows up. "Yeah, but it's mah way of sayin it Curly." "Ookay, if you say so Shorty!" Justin said smirking. "Don't you even start with that children! Now, go and get ready!" Joey said to the two men at the kitchen table. Meanwhile, Lance was walking up the stairs to bring Kayla her medicine and breakfast. He walked up to her room and saw that Ike was on the bed with her. He stopped just outside the door, because she seemed to be talking to Ike. "Hey baby boy, how did you sleep?" Lance saw Ike look up at Kayla like he understood. She giggled and then winced because of her head. Lance was going to walk in the room then, but she continued talking to her dog. "I'm sorry buddy, but we can't go on a walk today. I'm pretty sure that I'm goin to be in bed or at least the house for a few days." Ike rolled over and licked her foot. Kayla smiled and giggled again. Lance was amazed how beautiful she was when she smiled or was happy. He knew that if he saw Kayla on the street, he probably wouldn't look twice at her, but there was just somthing about her that attracted him when her really looked at her. Maybe it was the innocent look in her eyes, or the hurt and scared look. Lance really didn't know, and didn't care. He just knew that she was a very special girl. Lance snapped out of his day dream when he heard Ike growl. Kayla glance at the door automatically. "Lance? What are you standing there for? Come on in." "Um..well I heard you talking to someone. I um.. didn't want to interrupt," Lance stuttered as he walked into the bright room. "Naw, I was just talking to Ike here. I kinda do that a lot," Kayla said looking down. She was pretty embarrased to be caught talking to her dog so she just kept rambling. "I guess I talk to him because he just listens so well. He won't judge me, or try to change me. I always feel I can tell him anything and everything," Kayla finshed her little speach still looking down. She was ever more embarrased by that revelation. She truly didn't know why she was telling Lance all this, but he just seemed to be someone who she could confide in. "Kayla look at me. I understand what your saying. Some times we all just need someone who will isten to us no matter what. The guys are great and all, but if I have an issue that no one can relate to I write in my journal." ""Yeah, I know. You don't have the easy life. But, on to another subject no so.. in to me. Do I get my medicine now?" Kayla asked sheepishly. ""Oh wow. I'm so sorry. I completly forgot. Here ya go." Lance handed her the pills and some orange juice. When she was finished He set her drink on the side table and gave her the plate holding her breakfast. "Mmm. That smells so good." Kayla said sitting back against the head board. She moved her feet over to the side and motioned for Lance to sit down. He sat down, and watched as she tasted her food. "Good? It's what I was trying to make when you fell. My grandma taught me how when I stayed at her house a long time ago" "Yeah, It's really good. Thank you. I would have made something myself, but I don't think I can get up today. I really don't feel well," Kayla said. Ike walked up to her and looked at Kayla for some food. "Sorry buddy. You can't have any of this. It's mine and it's good." She smiled at the dog and looked back at Lance. He was staring at here funny. "What?" Lance snapped out of the daze. "Nothing, I was just wondering what we're gonna do today. I'm pretty sure that you are gonna get bored laying here all day.You have any ideas?" "No, not really. Maybe th guys will-" Kayla was cut off by the pounding of feet outside the door. "Open up!!" Some one shouted as they pounded on the door. When the knocking ended the door opened to reveal 4 guys who looked ready to go out. "Where are you guys goin??" Lance asked J.C. "We thought that since Kayla can't get up, that we would go and get Johnny's birthday present. You can stay here with Kayla since you aren't dressed yet. We won't be gone long. When we get back we can have dinner here. Maybe order out or somethin." JC explained. "Well, yeah thats cool with me. We'll just hang around here then." Lance said to JC. He sure didn't have a problem staying here with Kayla. Maybe they could get to know each other better. "Yeah thats fine. I'm pretty sure that this bed is gonna be my home for today." Kayla said sarcastically while rolling her eyes. She looked over at Lance wondering if he minded having to stay here with her today. She frowned hoping she wasn't too much of a burden. The guys said bye and left. Lance stood up, offering to feed Ike and let him out. As he left, Lance was thinking of how he hoped to uncover the secrets that made Kayla's beautiful eyes look so sad and scared. |
