| When they arrived at Kayla's house she was really dizzy and just wanted to go to sleep. The doctors orders were: she wasn't to go to sleep untill 9:30 pm the latest, because of her concussion. When Justin and Lance walked her up to her door she saw a note. On it was taped the key to her house and a small note saying: Chapter 14 Hey Kayla. I hope you know you get the house to yourself for 3 weeks and then your sisters will be home. Me and your father won't be home for a month. We will be at your graduation. I promise you. We love you Love Mom " Yeah...right." Kayla whispered when she read the note. Kayla was so tired and she just wanted to lay down and think about her life. She wanted her diary because that and Ike were the only thing that she really told everything to. They never criticized or argued even though they were only opinions. Kayla felt like they were the only two things she could really talk to. " Oh shoot! Kayla your dog, he is going to eat us. What should we do? You are way too weak to handle him." Justin whined to her when he heard the barking from inside. "Just wait here. He will be fine if he sees me. Don't be scared of him Justy. He is a nice dog, but he has to get to know you. Just don't go and pet him. He might think you are trying to hurt him." Kayla told him and Lance as she opened the door. "Ikie!! How are you. Where's my good puppy! There you are!" Kayla sort sang to Ike when he came up to her. Justin thought that it was amazing how such a big dog could be so gentle. Lance thought it was amazing, but for another reason. He thought that how she acted toward the dog and how her face lit up was the most beautiful sight. He liked it when she was happy. Just then Ike wanted to play and he jumped on Kayla. If she didn't have a concussion she wouldn't have minded, but Kayla was so weak that she started to fall backwards. Lance, seeing this, ran behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist. He righted he and got the dog off her. The problem was he didn't let go of Kayla. He never wanted to. *This* is where she belonged. "Are you OK?" Lance whispered into her ear. He loved the smell of her. So clean and fresh. She smelled like the rain. "Yeah I-i'm fine." Kayla was so surprised by the feel of his arms that she just leaned into his touch. This felt soo right to her. Him holding her and the smell of him. Oh GOD! It was wonderful. "HEY!!! He's going to eat me! Tell him to leave me alone" Justin screeched to Kayla and Lance. Lance immediatly let go of Kayla and she ran to Ike, who was only licking him may I add! She saw this and just burst out laughing. Lance looked at Kayla and also started to laugh. Justin looked at them like they were crazy. "Can you tell me what is soo funny?? Your dog was going to eat me and I do not see any humor in that!!!" "Curly, my dog is harmless when it comes to friends of mine and the only way he would eat you is if you tried to hurt me or if you tried to hurt him. He won't come at you for no reason." Kayla said starting to feel a little dizzy from the lauging and explaining. Kayla let Ike outside and went to go get Justin and Lance something to drink. When she was bring the drinks back to the basement she felt like she would faint. "Lance.. Justin I need you to come here Um.. real quick please." Kayla shouted down the stairs. She didn't want to alarm them but she was going to faint any second and fall down the stairs if they didn't hurry. Justin and Lance hurried up the stairs and saw Kayla lean against the door. "Guys, I have to sit down or something. I feel like I am going to faint. If you would just hold on to me I can make it down the stairs." " Are you sure you will be OK? We can call the doctor." Justin said to her as him and Lance helped Kayla down the stairs. "Yeah I just need to sit down." They helped Kayla to the couch and Lance went to go and get her a glass of water. When he came back she was asleep and Justin was in the bathroom. Lance knew she had to stay up so he walked over to Kayla and shook her gently. "Kayla, you gotta get up. Come on hun. Wake up." Lance whispered into her ear. He brushed a piece of hair from her face and she snuggled into the touch. Her stiches hit his hand in the process. She groaned and he he took his hand away. "Kayla you gotta get up now." "No, no. Leave me alone. I won't talk to you anymore. I will just shut up all together. No wait don't leave me!! I just want someone, anyone." Kayla was shaking her head and tears were falling down her face. Lance was so surprised by Kayla's outburst he jumped back. When he went back to her she was still crying saying things like: "Please don't leave me and I don't wanna be alone anymore." Lance didn't know what to do so he grabbed her hand and was stroking her forehead. Kayla woke up when she felt a hand on her forehead and when she heard a voice. She didn't really recognize it so she sat strait up. In the process Lance's hand hit her stiches and she groaned and focused on Lance. His hand was in her hair and she was shocked! "Um sorry. I um..." Kayla stuttered "Shh.. you were having a bad dream. Just lay back down. I'll go and get you some water." Lance said to Kayla. He took his hand out of her hair and gently wiped her tears away. His hand lingered on her cheek and she blushed. Lance smiled and walked away. He wanted to take care of her always, but if this was all he would get, he wouldn't give it up for anything. Kayla was in awe. He was sooo sweet and gentle. She wanted him forever!!! "Yeah right. He was just trying to calm me down. I bet he just doesn't like to see girls cry!!" Kayla thought. While Lance was in the kitchen getting Kayla her water he thought about what she was saying and what she had been saying the whole time he knew her. He knew she seemed sad, but he didn't realize that it went that deep. He didn't know if he should tell her how he felt. She might just laugh in his face. He kept on thinking about this on his way back. "Hey. How's your head feel Kay? "It really hurts. Do you think you could get me some asprin. There is some in the bathroom over there." "Yeah sure." Lance said as he got the asprin. "Thank you Lance. I hope this helps." Kayla finished her asprin and her and Lance started talking about everything and anything. "So.. Kayla, is there someone you want to give our number to? So they know where to call and everything. "Nope. Nobody needs to know." Or would want to know, Kayla thought sadly. "No one? What about your boyfriend? Or your best friend" "Boyfriend? HA! And best friend, I'll call her sooner or later." Lance was relieved that she didn't have a boyfriend, because he realized that he really wanted to tell her how he felt. At sometime at least. She was a really sweet girl and she seemed to have a huge heart. He wanted her to feel the same way, but only time could tell. Justin came back and he told them the rest of the guys were at home. The 3 of them went upstairs to get Kayla packed. She tried protesting but they wouldn't let her walk the stairs by herself. When they got to her room Lance and Justin were very interested by it. While they looked around the room Kayla slowly(cause she couldn't move very fast) packed her clothes. "Hey Kayla. What is this" Justin asked when he held up a framed picture from her wall. "That is my family. Nikki is in the middle. Lizzy and Brittney are on the left and My dad and mom are on the right. I took the picture." " Thats cool. Do you need any thing else for the next 3 weeks?" "Naw. I believe I have everything." The trio went down the stairs when they ran into Ike. "Oh shoot!! I completly forgot about him. What am I gonna do with him if I'm not home." Kayla said as Justin backed away from the dog. Lance pulled Justin to him and the two talked. "Heck NO! Yeah i do mind Come on Lance! FINE, but if he kills me its your fault!!" That is what Kayla got out of the conversation. "Kayla I know the rest of the guys won't mind and Ju Ju agreed that Ike can stay with you. We know he is special to you and it won't be a problem " Lance said emphasising 'problem' while glaring at Justin's pouty face. "Really!! Aw thank you soo much!!" Kayla shouted and gave both Justin and Lance a hug. Lance was surprised by this, but he sure didn't protest. They all walked to the car, Ike included, and drove back to they guys' house. |
