Martinsville '05: Bangs, Tires and Shames

The Advance Auto Parts 500 @ Martinsville Speedway

THIS IS A OFFICIAL RACE REPORT! DO NOT RAISE TEMPERS WITH ME AS ALL I DO IS REPORT TO YOU WHAT GOES ON. THANK YOU!

Your pole sitter for today's action is Scott Riggs. Dale Earnhardt Jr would start 26th and he was trying to win it today for Cark and Shawna's son Clay. Are thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Clay. While Jr was trying to do all that, Michael Waltrip started 31st. Now here is something: Jeff Clark is now Mikey's gasman so it would work if either one of em won it. Hmmm...ne wayz. Let's get to the action. But before that, we have to sing the national athem. Doing that today was Bobbie Ease off of All My Children. She plays Krystal of anyone is courious. And the command was given by one of the sgts. from Iraq. How cool is that? Ne wayz...we get better.

BOOGITY BOOGITY BOOGITY! The honary starter for today's race was a girl from the make-a-wish foundation. Now can this get any cooler?

Jerermy Mayfield led the first lap and for all truths, he started 3rd. How did he do it? Well he had some help. Scott & Ryan Newman made contact. Now on lap 4, Ryan stopped cuz of a flat tire on the track when he could've made it to pit road. NASCAR gave him a one lap penilty for that. Also, Dale Jr pitted to fix some damage he got with a run-in with Elliot Sadler yet in that inciddent, there was no harm so no foul to neither.

RESTART was on lap 8. 4 laps later, the 2nd causion came out for Jeff Green's spin that he did all by himself due to a car that was too loose. He fell from 11th to 20th. Your lucky dog was Ryan. So looks like the penilty didn't affect him too bad too long euh?

RESTART on lap 17. Now Ryan was actually back a lap down on this restart because he diddn't pass the paddle at the end of pit road before it was turned to stop and the leader passed him. Can this guy get any luck? On lap 20, Mikey was 36th well Jr was 40th yet 10 laps later Mikey had moved up to 34th well Jr was up to 36th. On lap 48, Jeff Gordon pits due to a vibration and Rusty Wallace takes the lead the same lap. On lap 56, Johnny Sauter gets a flat tire yet he doesn't do a Ryan (or a Jr if you remember last year) and he pits. Good boy! *claps*. The 3rd causion is out 2 laps after that due to Carl Edwards getting spun by Dale Jarret. Your lucky dog is Mikey!. Carl luck has sucked lately yet maybe Mikey's was starting to keep on a good note there. Who knows. There were pit stops yet Rusty held serve. Jr was 30th well Mikey was 33rd after their pit stops. Now Mikey tore a left front tire yet no major fender damage which was good. Good thing that causion came out when it did.

RESTART on lap 67 yet two laps later the causion was out again. Carl spun off curb and Hermie Sadler got collected in mess. Sad to see this happening for both but ne wayz. Matt Kenseth was your lucky dog well there maybe a pertensil second tire problem on J. Gordon's car.

RESTART lap 78. Blaney was slow in turn 4 on lap 81 due to a flat tire yet gets to pit road well on lap 89, Mikey got wrecked courtasy of Green through Mikey bumped Green down the front stretch. So here goes the Owensboro, Kentucky feud! Will they hate each other after? Hey thats not for me to answer. I don't know em. Ne wayz, Mikey fixed his car on pit road so he didn't have to go behind the wall and Ryan was the lucky dog again. This is one dog that gets lucky a lot. Now Jimmie Johnson did what Ryan did earlier with the paddle so he is now 1 lap down.

RESTART lap 94 and 2 laps later, Bobby Labonte takes the lead. At lap 100, Mikey is 37th with Jr 22nd. On lap 117, Tony Stewart took the lead while Jr was 21st on lap 120. On lap 127, there was a causion for Blaney flat tire. Drivers pitted yet Robby stayed out so he was 1st on the restart. And your lucky dog was Jimmie.

RESTART on lap 132. On lap 136, Tony takes the lead back while Blaney has trouble again yet makes it to pit road. On lap 140, Jr is 19th and 10 laps later, he is 18th while Bobby Hamilton Jr is overheating. And on lap 170, Jr was back up to 15th. On lap 171, Nemechek has a vibration well Jr is 14th on lap 176. Another causion comes out on lap 183 for Greg Bifle and Brian Vicker's wreck. Greg spins out due to a flat tire and Brian is caught up in the aftermath. There were pit stops. Here is your pit stop summery

Mark Martin got no changes

Rusty got no changes

Tony has no forward bite. He is first off.

Jr goes from 14th to 12th. GOOD JOB CREW!

RESTART on lap 189. On lap 192, Mikey is 36th well 3 laps later, Kevin Harvick starts to have clutch problems. This is only the beginning for Kevin. Why? Stay tuned! On lap 197, Jr is 11th. On lap 205, Jeremy takes the lead. On lap 209, Jr makes contact with Mike Bliss and now has major smoke coming off the left rear. He predicts the tire will be down in 2 laps yet he is wrong. He does not need to pit and on lap 224, Jr is 16th with not much smoke coming off the fender. Good or bad news? Hmmm I dunno. Depends what you like. On lap 225, Tony Stewart is first well Jr is down to 17th on lap 237. On that same lap, Jamie McMurray almost gets wrecked by Jr. Jr is 16th on lap 239 well on lap 241, Jamie had a tire prob and that is probably due to contact with Jr.

HALFWAY

On lap 254, Schrader had a tire prob yet makes it too pit lane yet on lap 256 when Nemechek has his, he gets into the wall and lots of debris is all over so there is a causin. Kyle Petty is the lucky dog well Jr is now 15th. PIT STOPS

Ricky Rudd and Mark got no adjustments

Tony tire centre; good elsewhere

Bobby got a trackbar adjustment

Trouble for Kevin due to his clutch prob. He gets a push from Blaney yet that didn't work so he behind the wall.

RESTART on lap 263. 4 laps after the restart, Jr is 16th. On lap 275, that dreadful yellow is out again. Rusty gets into Ryan yet they don't spin. Through eveyone checks up and Elliot Sadler spins Sterling Marlin in the aftermath. Sterling and Elliot had a discussion down the backstretch. Now what was wrong with Kev last causion? The pedels are screwed and the car is stuck in neutral. Guess he got used all his luck last week.

RESTART on lap 282. With 218 to go, Jr is 14th and on lap 285, Jr spins due to a right rear down and the causion comes out. And this wasn't on purpose like the Bristol deal was last year. Travis Kravil was the lucky dog.

RESTART on lap 289 and Tony messed up the restart and there was a major jam up. On lap 294, Jr was 18th and 4 laps later, Scott starts to have a voltz problem. Now why? Well pieces of rubber have punctured a whole in one of his spark plugs.

200 to go

On lap 302, Kyle possibly has a hole in his radiator. On lap 316, Dave Blaney has a overheating problem. He is on pit road. Now here's a thought: he may've killed the radiator pushing Kev down pit road. Weird euh? On lap 321, Kyle to garage with radiator problems. Guess that idea was correct. Congratulations. You score a bad finish. This game show doesn't give nice prices untill the end of the day. There is a causion a lap after that due to Green being spun by Mikey. Do you people remember earlier? Naughty boys! I think we should send em both home to kentucky to settle it there. And who will be the host of them settling this? Oh how about DW. Naw, he'd play favourites. Ok back on to what happened today. Jimmie is the lucky dog here and there are pit stops.

Mark gets a trackbar adjustment

Ricky gets none

Tony havin problems in centre

Jr 16th comin in

Sterling and Elliot get 2 tires *Weird how these two were angry at each other yet follow the same stragedy*

Tony 1st off

Jeremy too fast off

RESTART on lap 333. On lap 342, Jr is 16th and with 154 to go, Robby Gordon gets into the loose stuff yet no causion

150 TO GO

With 140 to go, Jeremy has a flat tire. With 131 to go, Jr is 15h and 4 laps later, he made up one spot to be 14th. The 12th causion comes out on lap 389 for Kyle Petty's spin due to a right rear down. Now this tire came off and Jason Leftler ran over it well Jr hit it. How can you run over a tire? PIT STOPS

Tony losing forward bite

Jeff car burned brakes up

Bobby 1st off

Now Scott Riggs is down a cylinder well Ricky's brakes are hot.

RESTART with 107 to go. Travis has problems on the start. With 102 to go, Jr is 16th well 2 laps later, Kurt Busch takes the lead and Bobby drops a cylinder.

100 TO GO

There is a causion with 99 to go due to Dale Jarret's flat tire.

RESTART with 91 to go. With 87 to go, Jr is 11th and 2 laps later, Bliss has engine trouble. With 84 to go, Mark takes lead yet a lap later Kurt takes it back. And also, Bobby was starting to smoke. No not with cigerettes. With his car. With 81 to go, there is lots of smoke so he's done. With 70 to go, Stewart looses a wheel and he was saying he had a vibration. There are pit stops and Kurt is the first off but 4 cars stayed out. One of those is Ryan and now he's first.

RESTART with 63 to go. With 61 to go, Jr is 11th and there is something wrong with Tony's car. Possibly a swaybar or shock problem. With 54 to go, Kurt gets spun by Jeff Gordon and a causion is brought out. Now Kurt pits too soon so he gets a one lap penilty. Lots of people being bad.

RESTART with 50 to go. With 44 to go, Jeff Green gets spun by Rusty Wallace through there is no causion. With 42 to go, Sterling is first and a lap later, Jr is 9th. Hey hey he found the top 10. In California, he found fenderland well now he has found top 10 land. May he be able to find top 5 land? Stay tuned! With 35 to go, Jeff is 1st well Jr is 11th with 20 to go. With 17 to go, Jr is 12th. Top 5 land is getting further and further away well he is now lost top 10 land. Why does this happen? With 16 to go, he gets further away and drops to 13th. With 10 to go, Travis Kravil has engine probs. And Jr pits under this causion well in 14th.

RESTART with 5 to go and Jeff Gordon wins!

1) Jeff Gordon --> its nice to see him win for Hendrick's first time back at Martinsville since the tragic events but I personally don't like watching him win.

2) Kasey Kahne --> I'm so sad Kasey didn't win. It would've been the perfect birthday present yet maybe the racing gods want to make it a belated birthday present and let him win at Texas. Who knows. And for info, this is his 6th second place finish. When is he going to be the winner and now the bridesmaid?

3) Mark Martin

4) Ryan Newman

5) Rusty Wallace

6) Sterling Marlin --> This is kind've weird espically after he said his 99.9% sure Chip won't renew his contact. Maybe putting yourself like that with the bubble is good luck. Who knows.

7) Ricky Rudd

8) Jimmie Johnson

9) Elliot Sadler

10) Joe Nemechek

POINT STANDINGS

1) Jimmie

2) Greg

3) Elliot

4) Mark

5) Tony

6) Jeff

7) Rusty

8) Ryan

9) Kurt

10) Dale Jarret

Right Now 23 cars are in the Chase for The Championship.

That is it! See ya!

Signed,

Ashley
