Mexico Preview

Hola. Bienvenido a mi presentación de la carrera de México. Para leer la versión española, por favor clic 'la Versión española' en el bottem.

Hello. Welcome to my Mexico race preview. I just want to start off by saying sorry for no California nor Daytona 500 preview. The reason for neither preview is I was extremely busy due to getting my new house ready to move into on the 11th and 12th (Vegas weekend). But I am here now with the Mexico preview.

The track's actual name is Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez yet most say Mexico for short. This is the only track that is south of the border that appears on any of the 3 major NASCAR schedules. It's part of NASCAR's expansion to new markets.

The first Busch Series race at Mexico was held last year in 2005. The winner of that race was Martin Truex Jr who is not running the race this year. Driving the car he won the race with is rookie driver Mark McFarland for JR Motorsports. JR Motorsports bought this car off of Dale Earnhardt Inc. Even through Mark is driving the defending winner's car, I do not think he will do as good as Martin based upon his finishes in the first 2 races.

Drivers To Watch: Last year, Martin's biggest competition was mexican road racer Adrian Fernandaz and 2001 Busch Series champion and this year's points leader right now Kevin Harvick. So if Adrian is running it, this'll be interesting. Kevin is running yet he isn't the only Cup driver running it. Nextel Cup rookies Denny Hamlin, Reed Sorenson and J.J Yeley, Nextel Cup sensation Carl Edwards and probably a couple more are running it so watch for the Buschwackers.

Rookie warning: I created the rookie warning to warn you of a rookie who'll probably be really good. This week it goes to Burney Lamar. So far this year he has stood out among the rookies. Plus his co-owner is Kevin Harvick so that'll help him out also.

Ashley's Mexico Advice: DO NOT DRINK THEIR WATER! Drivers were warned last year not to and I will warn them again. Need evidence of this being a bad idea? Look at Kevin. He drank it and got sick. Bad idea to be sick.

Well I'm done so bye bye!

Thanks,

Ashley
