The Brickyard
By: Ashley M.
The race goes on
We come to another challenge
Some will fail
Some will do well
Some will fall
Some will rise
A winner here is special
They get to meet the bricks
Yucky bricks turn to tasty bricks
Driver want the chance to kiss 'em
Or even make out with 'em
It's all about the Brickyard
Race #21 brings us to the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The name has recently been charged to the Alstate 400 at the Brickyard yet it will always be the Brickyard 400 to many. The track was built in 1909 of bricks; some of the original bricks lay at the start/finish line. Whoever wins gets a chance to kiss these precious bricks; some even choose to make out with them.
To be good at Indy, you need to be good at Pocono. Well the first major threat to win then would be Denny Hamlin. Denny has absolutely dominated at Pocono winning his first race there in June. He is taking the same car he won both Pocono races there. Two others who have ran good at Pocono are Kein Harvick, the 2003 winner & Kurt Busch who has finished 2nd to Denny both times.
2005 winner of the Alstate 400 is Tony Stewart, Denny's teammate. He had an emotional hometown victory last year and has done well at Pocono this year so expect him to be good at Indy.
You also have to watch out for 3-time Indy winner Jeff Gordon. And watch out for that 8 car because he'll be fighting to get back in the chase and that team is always good at fighting off adversity.
So enjoy the week off because Indy will be big.
