2 Issues In NASCAR
There have been a couple of issues in NASCAR lately that just make me wanna sit down and write and say stuff. So here goes what I think should be addressed
NO SWEARING IN INTERVIEWS OR MAJOR FINE/POINTS AWAY
Ok, NASCAR has a policy against this now. Drivers may not swear in their interviews or they are punessed. Well Johnny Sauter did just that at Rockingham and got 25 BGN Driver Points taken away from him which he ended up falling two spots. Now I think that is the wrong thing to do for this policy. Just because he said a bad word (don't know what word he said) he gets pts taken away and loses 2 positions. I think thats wrong. The more suitable approach would be to fine him $$$$ like $5,000 or $10,000. When this deal first came out, I thought the fine was $10,000 for swearing in a interview but NASCAR decided for Sauter to take points away + put him on probation. Now, do I agree with NASCAR stoping swearing in interviews? Yes because NASCAR is a family sport. The rating is G, general audience. I mean, if I had little kids I wouldn't want them hearing the f or the b word in a interview. By NASCAR doing this, they are taking messures to making it more for all ages which NASCAR is for (I do know, my cuz Amy is 2 and a 1/2 and she loves Mikey). Now, should they continue and take puness teams for swearing on their radios? NO! That is a place where they are given the freedom to speak to their team about how they feel, what the car is doing and the general status. If NASCAR touchs the teams freedom to spech, then they got a major issue.
Rockingham losing its date
There is talk that NASCAR is not going to Rockingham in 2005. Now, their reason is because it is not getting the crowd. Yet my opinion on this is that it is at the wrong time of year. In Febuary and in November at Rockingham, I heard it has been freezing cold. Now, would you dear fans wanna sit in cold weather for 4 hours and watch a race? I don't think you would. So before taking it off the schdule for good, try moving it to a summer month and maybe you'd get the crowd. Plus, we got a lot of tracks in the North Carolina area. Lots of people are already dedicated to Charlotte Motor Speedway and that so maybe in a different state copy the exact configureation and see if you get fans. I bet you would since Rockingham is a good track. Ok, its not wanna my favs (probally because Jr wasn't running good there in the past) yet I gotta admit that it has good racing. And to takes it date for California and then change the Southern 500 date? Puhlease; your messing with history here. Yet I don't wanna start that debate again because that debate toke a long time to stop and don't wanna spend a long time on it again.
Well thats all I can think of off the top of my head yet they are two good issues.
Hope you all have fun this weekend like I will,
Thanks,
Ashley
