Season Preview:

Jamie McMurray

By: Ashley M.

Past Overview

Jamie was surpose to enter cup in 2003 when he was called to drive the #40 car for Sterling Marlin since Sterling hurt himself in a pair of wrecks. In Jamie's second race of the seven he was to run that year, Jamie won his first ever NASCAR Winston Cup Series in the UAW Diamler-Crysler 500 @ Charlotte Motor Speedway. He finished his Busch Series season 6th in pts winning his first ever Busch Series race in the Target House 200 @ Rockingham Speedway. In Jamie's rookie season, he finished 13th in pts and won ROTY over Greg Bifle. In the year of the first Nextel Cup, Jamie got the special 11th place in pts with 23 top 10 finishes.

In 2005, Jamie failed to win a race and also failed to make the chase for the second straight year in a row completing 96.6% of the laps.

Restrictor Plates

Jamie is good at the restrictor plates. His only bad finish was a 32nd which was due to TBO so for next year, stay out of trouble and he'll get a beautiful top 5 avg. finish for the plates.

Short Tracks

Jamie is ok on short tracks but not good enough. He needs to improve it a little and espcape trouble.

Road Course

There must be a thing for him and 13th because he got that both times. But atleast he played the true road course survival game. Now that he knows how to survive he should go for the top 10.

Flat Tracks

No top 10s and one wreck isn't the way to play this game. He'll need to improve the flat track program if he wants to be in the chase.

Cookie Cutters

He's got lots of top 10s but also a bunch of teens and 20s. Plus there's a couple of even below that but no penilty against him for Charlotte fall due to a good finish in the spring and Humpy's "humpygating". So all I have to say is keep the top 10s since that's where he was ending his season at. Remember, momentum is a key part of this game.

Overall

Basically what I have found for Jamie and many others is they find TOO MUCH TROUBLE. So escape trouble and get better in curtain spots and you will have a good season. I think I've determinded the problem for every driver so do I have to keep writing these? Meh....I better since I luv your comments! HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
