Martin comes into the 2006 season as a rookie but don't forget that in his past two years of racing in the NASCAR Busch Series, he has won the championship both years.

In the races he started last year (2005), he was running good till unfortunate circumstances took him out of contension. Look at Daytona for example. He was running 15th when the engine blew and in his Gatorade Duel, he finished 4th. And then there's Talladega. Coming up through the field with Dale Jr & Kevin and gets stuck in a mess that was originally started by Jimmie Johnson. But the race you have to look at as a highlight in his 2005 campaigne is Charlotte, the Coca Cola 600. Finishing 7th in NASCAR's longest race is a achievement of all sorts (espically with how that race went). And then there was Atlanta. Running 10th when the right front tire blows and the day goes to a end. Just because of one stubborn tire.

Restrictor Plate Races (Daytona & Talladega)

Well it's been proven time and time again that no matter who you are if your in a DEI car, your gonna run good. Plus he has already proven he can run in the top group there (2005 Daytona 500 and Aaron's 499 story from above). So I look for him to finish in the top 10 in all the races at these two tracks plus possibly also have some wonderful wins.

Short Tracks (Martinsville, Bristol, & Richmond)

Martin will probably do good on the short tracks. He showed in the Busch Series that he is good on them with a win at Bristol, a win at IRP and a bunch of great finishes on the different short tracks in the Busch Series.

Road Courses (Sears Point & Walkin's Glen)

Martin will also probably do good on the road courses. His first road course race was at Mexico last year and he won it plus at Walkin's Glen he finished 5th. So I look for some top 10s at the Road Course races also.

Flat Track Races (Homstead, Indy, Phoenix & New Hampsure)

His flat track finishes for the Busch Series for 2005 were a win & a 27th place (flat tire put him back there) at New Hampsure, a 7th at Homestead and 6th & 9th at Phoenix. Plus he was also good at all 3 of these tracks in 2004 so I expect good results in 2006, espically at New Hampsure

Cookie Cutters (All Other Tracks)

His 2005 Cup Series results for the Cookie Cutters are: 7th, 40th & 15th. Well that 40th place finish should've been a top 10 if it hadn't had been for the right front exploding so I'd say considering the results, he should have a bunch of top 15 finishes there.

Overall

I predict that Martin will have a good season for a rookie with wins, top 5s and top 10s. His only problem in his starts in past years has been luck so if he can get the luck, then he can get Rookie Of The Year
