If I Could..
By Lisa Matthis

If I could only let you know Im really doing fine
If I could only talk to you, for just a moment in time
Id probably tell you how much I love you, even to this day
Maybe I didnt say it often enough, but that was just my way.

If I could only let you know, Im so proud of what you do
If I could only have the chance again, to talk with the kids, too.
I would probably tell Dale Jr I know a champion one day hell be
And how I wish I could be there with him, on the stage in New York City.

If I could only let them know, from deep down in my heart
If I could only have a moment, to say I loved them from the start
To Kerry, Renee and all their kids, and the little one on the way,
And Jr, Kelley, Karsyn and Taylor Nicole, I miss you everyday

If I could only let you know of the things I really miss
If I could hold you in my arms again, and feel your tender kiss
Id probably never be able to say goodbye, and would never want to depart
But it helps to know I continue to live within each one of your heardts.

If I could only let you know, Im safe with the angels above
There is no sadness, there is no pain, If I could only tell you of the love
I know you probably dont understand why I received my call just then
But I know you will have the answers, when, we are reunited once again.
Missing you, Dad
By: Lisa Matthis

Its been almost two years, since youve gone away
You left this world too soon, seems we all needed you to stay
But the world has not stopped turning and they still race out on the track
And it just still seems a little strange without our favorite "man in black".

Now your son has come into his own, for this Id bet youre proud.
Just listen when he is introduced, the cheers for him are loud.
Hes changed over the last two years, hes grown a lot, its true,
Im sure there are times out there that he still really misses you.

If there is racing up in heaven, youre a star still to this day,
For your memories that you left us fans will never fade away.
Some now cheer Dale JR, for hes the son of a son of a son.
A Winston Cup Champion like you, we hope one day hell become.

He owns his own team now, with Teresa by his side.
This is just another thing that would fill your heart with pride.
He is his own man, speaks his mind, has a sense of humor with his fans.
He still loves the beach, listens to rock n roll, has even drummed with the band.

The real part of being father and son, is the advice that comes from a dad
Sometimes you listen and sometimes you dont, but it could be the best you ever had.
The important thing that Jr should realize, of his life your were the part
That guided him and his racing career, and loved him from the bottom of his "hardt"
For Martha. From my heardt
By: Lisa Matthis

I cant believe Ive been alone for almost thirty years
I cant remember a week going by I didnt shed a tear.
I still miss the way youd smile, and I think of you each day
And wish that you were still here with me, in each and every way.

I cant believe three years ago, it happened once again,
The racing world had to say good-bye to another dear friend
I still miss the way youd smile, and think of you each day,
And wish that you were still here with me, in each and every way.

I cant believe how time rolls by, the tradition races on.
This young man has grown up too fast, hes my cherished sons son.
I worry so much, when he leaves to go on to the next race at the track
He carries on, and honors his dad, that famous "man in black"

I do believe I stand with pride, to carry the Earnhardt name
I still hold my breath at the drop of the green flag just the same.
Ill continue to watch my grandson race, I know a champion hell be
For that is what the Earnhardt men do, that is their destiny.
