The Club Founders really hate having to spell out all these rules, but we've found that in the Club, as well as in life, that things go better when people have a reference sheet.

1.  Message Board

A.  Posting occasional "For Sale" or "Wanted to Buy" or "To Trade" ads for Diana/Diana doll related items on the message board is okay.   The business end of the transaction (shipping arrangements, dickering over prices, contact information, etc.) should be handled through email.  It's okay to post your email address; however, in the interests of everyone's personal safety, don't post physical street addresses or phone numbers on the message board!  Leona or Carol can coordinate exchanges of email addresses for anyone feeling shy of putting it on the board.  If you are in the middle of a transaction & cannot reach your party  via email, try posting a message on the board to try to gain their attention DISCREETLY without insinuating that you believe you have been cheated before you are sure.  Try to exchange phone numbers at the beginning of the transaction in case of unforeseen emergency such as a computer crash or service provider downtime.

B.  Messages that include a link or item number to an eBay auction of a Diana item which you wish to bring to the attention of the group are okay.  Messages about a Diana auction item of your own are okay if:

1.         All eBay rules are being observed by the member/seller.

2.          When posting the auction notice to the club's message board, you are aware & accept that you could become a topic for discussion, especially if you fail to abide by the terms of the auction, eBay's rules or the club's rules.

3.         The message clearly identifies that the auction belongs to you.

4.         If you wish to use photos from the Club archives, you agree to ask & obtain permission from the Club member who posted them.

 C.  The club's message board should not be used as a forum for settling disputes between buyers & sellers.  Keep evidence that you have paid or evidence that you have shipped, such as money order receipts, cancelled checks, post office certifications, etc.  This is a doll club, not Judge Judy, & the members are collectors, not the Supreme Court.  Although the club takes no responsibility for private deals, be aware that the club founders will not look kindly on anyone attempting to cheat other members & will report scammers to Yahoo, an ISP or whatever appropriate authority is in order such as eBay's Safe Harbor, the FBI, a local postmaster or police.

D. Positive references are encouraged & appreciated both by those being praised & those considering a deal.  Negative references need to be confined to facts that can be supported with evidence--no personal attacks, insinuations or name calling of club members will be tolerated as per Yahoo & this club's rules.

This is a difficult area involving legal issues related to libel & slander.  Only ONE message should be posted about a complaint.  The complainee has an equal opportunity to post ONE message in self-defense.  Moderators have the same rights as members.  If you suspect a fellow member is less than honest, please report it to the List Owner privately.  Report the use of false identities to the Moderators ASAP. Public denunciations can be counter-productive.
