It's nice to sign your messages so that people know what to call you, especially if you use a handle or screen name. Other members may feel you are unapproachable if you post messages using only your Yahoo! ID or email address. Be friendly!
3. Any post that is of too personal a nature should be handled through e-mail (buy/sell activities or frank discussion of financial or other personal problems.) In the interests of personal safety, don't post your address or phone number! If you can’t reach someone by email, you may post a message asking them to contact you.
4. When posting messages, the rule of thumb is to keep it tasteful. A good barometer of taste if you don't feel sure: If you couldn't read the message out loud to your mother or Dear Abby without getting a lecture, then DON'T post it.
Please keep in mind that membership & participation are voluntary. If your message isn’t answered by someone, it is not appropriate to whine about how mean/selfish/whatever you think the Club is being or pitch a public tantrum. If you feel ignored, feel free to contact the Moderators personally in email. We will answer your question privately or publicly, whichever is most appropriate to the running of the club. Remember, personal relationships take time to build.
Also, do understand that questions addressed to the group at large may go unanswered as no one person may feel qualified or responsible for replying. Allow time for individuals to answer questions, as some folks access the Group only from home or only from work & may not be on line all the time or even daily. Weekends are usually a slow time for messages. Other Club members have lives off-line & may not have time to gratify demands for information or photographs right away.
The Moderators thank our regular members for making it unnecessary to remind folks about using vocabulary & subject matter appropriate for all ages. Incidentally, correcting other members’ spelling, grammar & syntax errors is not only rude, boorish & vulgar, it is OFF-TOPIC. If you have an anal retentive or compulsive need to criticize what you see as the educational short fallings of others, PLEASE FIND ANOTHER GROUP—YOU ARE NOT WELCOME.
5. Buying/selling is on topic under these guidelines. Please read the preceding link if you plan to advertise or answer an advertisement. Participating in buying, selling, advertising or trading is strictly between the buyer and the seller; this forum accepts no liability for failures of delivery or payment, other than providing a medium for airing ONE complaint per transaction. Messages that don’t meet these requirements may be deleted without notice & the sender will be warned by email.
That said, the Club’s Moderators will not look kindly on anyone using the Club’s facilities to cheat people out of money or goods. Cheats will be reported to the appropriate authorities (FBI, police, eBay’s Safe Harbor, Better Business Bureau, etc.) Their ability to post messages & use Club facilities will be disabled with or without notice depending on the situation.
