| Life's a Drag... Show ! | |||||||
| A Story By: Amber Nicole Richards | |||||||
| Have you ever just felt like getting all dressed up in womens' clothes and going out and just having some fun. Well I've felt like doing that for longer than I can remember. I would take a shower, careful to shave off all that unsightly body hair. Then I get out my make-up case and begin my transformation into Amber. I open up my closet and dresser, and drape myself in beautiful clothes. And finally, I choose a wig that will bring the whole look together. Voila! Suddenly, I've become a beautiful girl. What does a beautiful girl do on a Saturday night? Until recently she would sit around her apartment late into the night, and then take everything off and go to bed. How depressing is that? What's the point of spending all that time making myself pretty and not let anyone else enjoy it? | |||||||
| I was so tired of keeping Amber prisoner, but I didn't know what to do about it. I didn't want to go out alone, and none of my friends or family wanted to get involved in that way. I was getting frustrated. Then, one day I created a profile for Amber on AOL, and my life got the little boost it needed. Another CD from my area, named Marsha, introduced herself, and then shortly afterwards introduced me to the magic of going out in public. | |||||||
| Over the next couple of weeks we went to a couple of bars in the area. It was great! It felt so good to go out into a public place, and just be myself. I have to admit, I'm addicted. I can't get enough of the rush I feel when we go out. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, Marsha invited me to the Erie Sisters' monthly meeting. Well, I didn't even have to think about it. Of course I wanted to go! And, I haven't regretted it for a second. It was the best feeling in the world to be among people just like me who wouldn't prejudge me just because I happen to be wearing a dress. They're a great group of people too. I can't wait to see them all again next month. And I can't wait to go back to The Village again. I had more fun there than I've ever had anywhere in my whole life! Dancing, karaoke, loud music, and a whole building full of people who didn't think I was a freak. Who could ask for anything more than that? And just remember, life can be a drag sometimes, but only if you get out and try it! | |||||||
