| An Update on Memarie | ||||||
Hello there. It has been a little over a year that I ended my reign as Miss Western Navajo Teen. I handed over my crown to Miss Alicia Sullivan from Kayenta, AZ. A very talented young woman who carried out her duties successfully. Since then, I graduated from Flagstaff High School with the Class of 2002. I recently finished my first year at Nothern Arizona University. I started as a Public Relations major with a Political Science minor. This fall I will be at Fort Lewis College studying Psychology with a Counseling emphasis. My career aspiration is to become a youth guidance counselor. Working with the youth as a royalty has inspired me to take on this career. I love what I do as a role model, but I know I will not be a "princess" forever. So I figure, this is the best way to keep doing what I've been doing as a princess. Inspire our Native American youth to become people we can all be proud of. As for any future titles....I am still contemplating that. I have been told again and again that I should run for Miss Navajo, but I've gotta perfect my Navajo and sheep butchering, lol. I still have my goal of running for Miss Indian World, but I believe everything has its time and when I am ready to take on that role, I will. An important piece of advice I received from one of my friends is "Everyday is a pageant" Everyone is always competing in this big world. You don't have to have a crown or title to inspire people or volunteer your time. Even though I don't have a title now, I continue to do what I did as a princess. I still mentor the youth and do motivational speeches as well as perform and MC for many events. I hope everyone who visits this website can do the same as I have done. Help out one another and better another person's life. Volunteer for a good cause, even if it is only for an hour. I guarantee you that whoever benefits from your volunteering wil be extremely greatful. Until I update this again....you can always email me at [email protected] |
