Until Isabel Evans Comes Home
by
The night is dark
The light becoming;
But leaving my friends
Is so painful
This is my last chance
To see their faces
Before they too arise
Before their bodies
Betray them
Falling them to their knees
Watch over them,
I always will;
But be a part of their lives
I cannot
I am but soul
And have no form;
Even with their powers
They see me not.
My see-through hands
Just ache to touch
The flesh of her golden face
To wipe away the tears I brought
To assure her that things
Will be OK
Her face is still
Without a thought
Painted on the light canvas
They cannot tell
What churns in her head
But I can see
So well
It is with her that I will stay
Be her friend, her ghost, her angel;
It is her that I will guard with
Every power in my formless soul
The flesh within which I was trapped
Is only a meaningless form
But I know I will miss that place
Until my friends come here to dwell
By my side will she forever be
Hopes and dreams come true triple fold;
And she will stay with me for eternity
Bringing meaning to this drifting soul
I pray that she find another
To comfort her in her life;
But hope that she finds no other
Who can take my place in this life
The light is growing brighter
And my will is growing weak;
Something deep in me
Tells me
This is what's meant to be
It's becoming so bright
That their faces twist and blur;
And I close my unreal eyes
Blinking hard because it hurts
I am going to a place
Where I will be not alone;
But surrounded by the faces
Of those who I have not known
Legal crap: I don’t own Isabel Evans. If it matters, I don’t own any of the other characters or places, either, but I don’t know if you could pin copyright infringement on me, if I don’t use their names.
